Mobiles.co.uk have recalled the HTC Hero - What are my rights?

Caught this thread searching for anything that may help me get a working HTC Hero through Mobiles.co.uk on Vodafone.
All I've had is 9 days being just getting fobbed off; for some reason that I'm not privvy to my SIM states 'No Service'. They sent the registration request, re-sent the request, done a manual request which meant I had to concede to another credit check and fax my passport details etc over. 24+ hours after my FAX and still no service...
Think I'm off to vodafone directly tomorrow to see if they can directly set me up and just cut out Mobiles.co.uk completely. I just need a working phone asap for work reasons... ( Programmer contract work )
From my brief experience so far... I would not recommend them.0
