My voda SIM did not work when received, the phone number quoted on my Mobiles paperwork was the one to be transferred.
I called Vodafone to "activate" the SIM and was advised of the port date.

I did not realise the dead sim was normal for Voda, in the past I have had SIM cards with a temp number which ceases on port day.

Mine was a temp number before being ported.

Thanks, I've got a nasty feeling I'm going to be stuck with the highly unmemorable number that Vodafone have assigned me :(

The latest I've been told is that Voda will honour all ports where the systems failed, so don't worry.

I hope so! Do I need to ring them or will someone contact me?

You may get a faster result by speaking to Voda yourself (mentioning that you requested a port through us, but you understand there's a problem with the 'MNP' process) and you wanted to check it was being sorted - sorry for the hasle but sometimes a direct approach works better than us running around behind the scenes. Stress that we were given your PAC but their systems failed to action the port.

We'll make enquiries too, from what I'm told all ports should be manually set up by Vodafone within 48 hours of the original connection (as per the above poster) but looks like this isn't 100% of cases yet. I take it (sorry, lots of posts to keep track of!) you've already emailed customer.services@mobiles.co.uk?

    Thanks,

I've just called Vodafone and they are sending me a new SIM card. Once that arrives they will do the port :)

    Ah - thanks for that.

Sorry about the issues, we're working hard with Vodafone to fix them and glad you got it sorted.

BTW I had an email back from customer.services@mobiles.co.uk saying that you couldn't port any numbers to Vodafone and I would have to return my phone if I wasn't happy with that. You might want to let them know what is going on!

Ah - this is our default position (to be safe) as we're still operating with some uncertainty about who we can get ported and who Voda are unwilling to help us with.

I'm hoping to refine this today. It;s very, very difficult getting a complicated issue like this adresssed and understood properly by 100% of the company so we'll always "fail safe", even if it costs us business.

    Cheers,
