    Hiya,
Just looking at a coolnewmobile and it seems they have 4 brilliant 12months free phones on a 12 month contract. Anyone tried the company? How are they with cashback? Also could someone just give me a quick overview of their T&Cs please [in English lol].

    Thanks,

  • Seems like you are being ignored!!!
Sorry, i can't be of any help - never heard of them. The site looks "cool" though!
I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)
  • I received my first cashback cheque today. I will try and give as much detail about everything as I can.

When I ordered the phone, I ordered late in the day and received the phone 2 days later, so they dispatched the next day and it came by royalmail special delivery.

All correspondence is from a company called 'Mobile Affiliates' based in Nottingham. But one funny thing is the email for customer care is @4ultd.com and from memory the return address on the phone was 4Ultd returns, so I wonder if these phones are refurbished returns from phones4U ?

When you order you get an option to tick that you don't want the mobile phone insurance, which I ticked and I was still signed up to it. Somebody else on this site also commented that this happened to them, so be prepared to cancel mobile phone insurance even if you specify you don't want it.

With regards to the cashback, the terms and conditions say something different to the cashback claim form. The terms and conditions state to send the 4th bill, whereas the cash back claim form states to send a bill dated around 120 days after connection. As I received a bill nearly straight away, the bill dated around 120 days after connection was actually my fifth bill.

I sent my fourth bill and within a week they had written back saying I needed to send the next bill the one dated around 120 days after connection. I sent the 5th bill and within 2 weeks I have received a cheque.

A few strange things, the cheque is handwritten so they must still be dealing in very small numbers. After I sent the 4th bill, I called Mobile Affiliates after about 3 days to check they had received it. They said they couldn't tell me and I had to call another number. When I called this other number it was not a call centre, it sounded like a small office, there was music playing in the background and the guy called out to someone across the office if they knew if they had received my cash back claim form. It sounded like only a couple of people worked there.

Cool new mobile make you claim cash back in 5 stages which is more than some other companies, so this is a contract for organised people. If you miss one you can't claim any more.

Also, I have sent everything recorded signed for. I wouldn't take the risk not to.

It is definitely a small company but it does seem to have some real connection to 4U. I am not sure exactly what that is though. Even if it is a small off shoot, it is so small I am sure it could easily be closed down.

I have got my first cheque very quickly and I think it has been worth the gamble. I will report back as I make further claims. I would say to other people if you can afford 30 pounds a month anyway and are organised, go for it, and there is a good chance you will have a years worth of free phone calls. If you are really tight and can't afford a phone and are therefor going for a free mobile, think about what would happen if they didn't pay up. If you are not organised or forgetful...forget it.

I would be interested in hearing other peoples experiences if they have purchased from coolnewmobile.
  • Also, I for got to add go through Quidco for cashback. I myself did not know about Quidco when I signed up for my contract and was annoyed when I found out a few days later.

Coolnewmobiles is another version of Phoneboxdirect.com - again operated by Mobile Affiliates. Their website gives much detail about their relationship with Caudwell/Dextra/4u but effectively they are an independent trader supplied by Dextra (as are Jessops, Woolworth, Debenhams and Boots). There is little known about Coolnewmobiles/Phoneboxdirect (as discussed on other threads) but it is good to hear of a successful cashback claim.

  • My experience was very similar to maryjane01's. I emailed to confirm whether bill 4 or 5 should be sent and received a quick response advising which one.
Sent my first claim special delivery and emailed to confirm receipt / no problems etc. Again, quick response to email and promise of a cheque within 14 days -- and it came.

Unusual to see hand-written cheques these days but all-in-all no problems at all.

So, is it definitively the 5th one (the one showing the 120th day connected)? What email did you use to contact them?

I am about to claim my money back for this voucher:
    http://lcredit.150m.com/CoolNewMobiles/Voucher.pdf

    Given that:
    - My contract started on the 28/10/2005.
    - The bill, which I receive the second of every month, is for the payment of line rental (voice, data, etc.) for the next period, while call\message charges are for the previous period. See http://lcredit.150m.com/CoolNewMobiles/Bill.png for an example.

Now I think the bill I have to send is the one which will arrive on the 02/03/2006.
I'd just need someone to reassure me, as coolnemobiles seems to have pretty harsh penalties if you fail to redeem a voucher…
    TIA
    Mario

A bit odd to reply to myself, but I seem to have understood which one to send.

Can someone confirm what is this "Order Reference":

Order Reference: - CNM___________ (This can be found on the original
confirmation we sent, when you ordered the phone and starts PBD)

I don't think I've got the original email, and I can't find this number anywhere else.
