More news on TalkTalks very long queues (and bad customer services) for those calling them (especially on their revenue generating 0870 number) here, and below are just a few quotes:-The wave of complaints has been brought on by long call queues at Carphone's dedicated TalkTalk call centres, which are meant to handle all customer service issues. Carphone salesmen say that waiting times of up to 45 minutes are not uncommon, leading scores of customers to visit their local stores for help instead.'Because the demand has proved higher than even our own expectations, there are peak times when customers may have to wait to get through.' A spokeswoman said the average waiting time to get through to a call centre was five minutes.
It also appears that there is a wait of upto 2months now for broadband and many complaints are from customers being billed twice and/or being charged for calls that should be included in their tariff:-New customers signing up to TalkTalk broadband will now have to wait around two months for their connection to go live.
Store staff say many customers have complained of being billed twice or having to pay for calls even though they should be included in Carphone's broadband deal. Delays in dispatching modems to waiting customers have also prompted a large number of enquiries.0 -
I have come of here looking for advise wether or not to switch over to TT for my numbers and broardband. Is the answer that I am looking for a big fat NO!?0

It's looking that way! Try Heinz's top tips - leave your line rental with BT, CPS your UK local/national evening and weekend calls through Primus Saver Option 2, use 18866/18185/1899 for any mobile/international calls/peak rate UK calls and when you've received confirmation you're a Primus customer, ask Primus about their existing customer broadband offers as outlined below:As a Primus Saver customer, you are entitled to a discount on both the cost of our standard 1MB broadband package, AND our full 2MB broadband service:
1 Mb - 12 months - £17.99 - £ 3.00 = £14.99
1 Mb - 18 months - £17.99 - £ 4.00 = £13.99
2 Mb - 12 months - £23.99 - £ 7.00 = £ 16.99
2 Mb - 18 months - £22.99 - £ 7.00 = £ 15.99
As far as broadband is concerned - some people worry that their existing broadband will stop working if they change their line rental/calls provider. This is not the case (unless you're switching to/from a cable supplier like NTL/Telewest!) If you currently have broadband it will continue to work as normal; if you want to switch it, you will need to get a MAC (Migration Authorisation Code) to transfer from your existing broadband provider to Primus or whoever else you choose.Fasthosts ruined my life0 -
Has anyone had a good experience with TT? I signed up the other day but hadn't read this thread first! Worried now0

It's rare to find anyone who has good experiences, there are some, just not many.
You'd think after almost two years TalkTalk would have sorted the problems out, they haven't so can't really see that changing in the coming two+ years. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

Anyone who's thinking of signing up with TalkTalk may like to read this:
Firstly, we signed up for BB beginning of April and recieved the modem towards the end of June, something like 15 weeks.
The installation setup CD didn't work properly. It terminated whilst testing my connection to TalkTalk. So I rang them up just incase the setup procedure needed to be completed, waiting time 10 mins (10ppm).
Anyway, It had made a connection (how ever unapparent) and so I visited TalkTalk's 'site' to setup email. To access your email, you have to access your account. To access your account, you have to enter the log in details they sent you in the post which is yourphonenumber@talktalk.net then some unmemorable and unchangeable password like h3g2j7c9.
So I do all that, set up my emails then exit. I go to hotmail and send myself a test message. I go back to talktalk, type in that rediculous password again, enter my email address and password and it gives me a load of old tosh that my password is wrong. So I'm thinking they must want that nightmare password again, but no, this too was not recognised. I phoned them again (another 10 mins waiting) and they tell me to insert a '1' in the address bar changing http://talktalk.net/ to http://talktalk1.net/ and try again, which I did and it worked. Well, what's all that about? It only worked once anyway! I'm not phoning them again only to be told that I have the wrong http that they directed me too in the first place and try putting a '2' in this time? **** off!!!
Apart from this 'minor' hiccup of not having email, and even if I did, having to enter that password which I'm still having nightmares about, my connection speed is 2.2 mbps instead of the 8 we signed up for. Theres no online support, and my connection terminates itself atleast twice an hour.
One good thing I suppose is that we haven't had a bill in yet even though we had the phone connected in April, but no doubt it'll catch up with us.0
