I've read bad posts about TalkTalk broadband, but are there any people who've found their service/broadband/telephone acceptable?

Personally I don't use them. However, i've heard of some that have been connected and are happy, and others who are not. The main issue appears to be when you will get connected.
IMO, I think you are more likely to find people who were dissatisfied with the service on here as people on the whole, tend to complain more about bad service than compliment good service.

We got connected in May and had a expected broadband switch on date of July. We were connected to broadband early June and it was very easy to set up. The broadband seems a bit on the slow side (when downloading) but browsing is nice and fast and we are very happy with it.
The phone service has been fine too, no service outages and the first phone bill was correct.
In all we are very happy and over £20 a month better off compared to what we were paying before.0 -

I don't think you got the point. You had a good reason to slate talktalk and I respect that, Ms4 is right in saying that people rarely praise a service unless either asked to or in response to a complaint...
How often have you sung the praises of Madasafish without being prompted compared to times you've slagged off TT?[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
Check out the TAlkTalk forum at ADSLGuide. All the posts there are about this service. This will give you more of an idea of what customers are saying about it.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Don't touch TalkTalks "free Braodband for life offer". I ordered the package back in April and I still haven't got it. The most annoying part is that it's impossible to contact their customer service by phone or e-mail. I even sent a recorded letter to the chief executive (Charles Dunstone) to complain but I've heard nothing. Do Ihave grounds for getting out of their 18 month contract? Someone please help!!!!!0

I must disagree with you on the broadband support offer If you call 08000855900 (just checked it and it's the right one) then choose option 1 then 3, you'll get connected, just tell them it's a broadband problem (actually start explaining your issue and they'll tell you it's a broadband problem) then they'll transfer you over and you'll get to speak t someone. Max wait is about 10 minutes which is not bad considering the service is having such a high demand.
I think we need to sit back and look at this realistically. This offer caught the interest of many people, and it's been well oversubscribed, hence the long wait before being connected (to the broadband anyway). I personally think it's a bit unfair of people to complain that the date they've been given is two months into the future from when they joined. If hey don't meet the date they quote, well that's a different issue entirely. You're getting this free 8Mb service, you want it, so do 20 million other people so naturally there's going to be a queue and a rather long one by the looks of things.
Re: service, gotta agree with the other poster on this, very good so far, and helpful and co-operative Customer Services. Just waiting for online call-records of unbilled calls like JustDialSaver used to have to complete the deal.
Cheers and take care.

A member of my family had similar problems recently with Pipex, they were totally ignoring him. In the end he got Trading Standards onto it, and also got a solicitor to send a letter (cost £20). He has now managed to get out of his contract with them, and they've given him his MAC code so he can migrate to another provider.0
