I am with telewest, same problem. I was told that I have to set up the bt line first. Once set up you can then move. The snag is a fine (for want of a better word) for changing within a 3 month period. I think it was in the region of 14-£17 . I am also worried about the extra messing about of 2 switches in succesion-so not sure what I will do yet

Well my line is currently with NTL (so I'm used to a total lack of support ;)). When I check for availability I get a message saying I can't use TalkTalk as I need to be with BT. Which is fair enough. But they don't tell me whether the exchange is unbundled or not - and I'm not going to change to BT if I still can't then change to TT!
Is there anywhere else I can find this out?

:j I had a bad experiance with the CPW about 3-4 yrs ago when I bought 2 payg mobiles, to me it seemed obvious that these phones were recons but after frustrating numerous calls back when they actually picked up the phone and 6 deliveries back and forth and £240.00 I got what I asked for and vowed never again.
Then last feb 2005 I got cold called by them in turm bt reported them for signing me up without my permmision and I had to keep ringing them for 2 weeks to cancel my phone with them that I had'nt even signed up for in the first place, because I got a welcome pack off them talktalk I don't think they know how to talktalk it sounds a very tempting deal but I'm with force9 and I love it, I have primus saver option2 for evenings and weekends and 1899 for the daytime it may cost alittle extra but at least if I have to ring them I get them talktalk don't make me laughlaugh or should it be crycry twice biten never again T:mad:

    Got the welcome pack today!

Does it tell you how to set up and contact the free voicemail?

Does the welcome pack say anything about caller display? I have agreed to pay the £1.50 a month for it but do not appear to have it at the moment.

    Thanks

It says nominated calling features "will be active 7 days after your go-live date."

Our Voicemail hasn't been activated yet because we haven't been connected for 7 days. I tried 1571 though the other day though and a BT message came on saying press 1 to order the 1571 service, so don't know whether this would still work.
  • I signed up for the Talk Talk Broadband Package on 13th April with an estimated going live date of end of June.
I received a letter on 8th May saying I was going live on 9th May.
    Modem arrived on 10th May.
Had to buy a longer cable to reach phone point.
Up and running on 14th May.
    How is that for service?
    So far so good!

I would like to say that my experience so far(3 weeks) with talktalk has been very smooth and trouble free.
received my first bill today and, as advertised,UK calls are all free.Itemised billing 084444 number charged at correct rate (4 p minute)
    broadband transfer was trouble free.
customer service have been helpfull on the phone
(admittedly waiting time has been erather long for obvious reasons.although 0870 number for customer services but it is free for talktalk customers)

    Can not knock talktalk yet!

( a small point but i have been charged 5p(inc.vat) for a call to 0844 number which lasted 4 seconds. So i persume 5p is the minimum charge per call)
    Snootchie Bootchies!

I've had TT BB for 3 months to save £13.00 a month i was paying BT Yahoo. As soon as i can ge out of their contract i will because their service is rubbish and would warn people not to touch with a barge-pole. Since installing TT on my desktop it freezes all the time and i am only able to get internet access through the laptop via modem supplied by TT whereas with BT i had a wireless connection for both. I have tried to phone but get charged 10p a minute only to be told after 30 mins sorry unable to help due to technical difficulties. Have now emailed Charles Dunstone office for help. I did receive an email back saying they were going to look into the problem for me. I just want a mac code i dont care how much i've got to pay to get out of this BB contract but it will worth every penny.

Money saving by going to talk talk no its cost me treble so far by having my computer looked at by various repair shops to be told its fine only to get home set it all back up and will not work again.

    STAY AWAY FROM THIS SERVICE

What you should do is phone Telewest and tell them you are leaving to go to BT and the TalkTalk offer and they should offer you a better package to stay with Telewest.

    Others have been told August.

Beware too that they specifiy that the (18 month) contract starts as soon as the phone line is 'delivered' - so that's when the £70 termination fee kicks in.
I signed up for the talktalk offer but I could not get the free broadband so I signed up for the line rental @£11 talk3I @£9.99 2meg broadband @£10.00 on the 11th April...... what a mistake they promised me that my caller display would still work and the answer m/c would carry on working as soon as talktalk took over the line caller display and ans m/c stopped working. I have contacted them by e-mail they have replied once to approx 6 e-mails you ring them up and after being in a queue for 10-20mins you get customer service so far they have been promised 3 times that it will be working in a couple of days it is still not working.I contacted them again 0n the 16th may and was told it will be working the next day it aint.I enquired on the 16th when would my broadband be upgraded from 0.5meg to 2meg and was told that it had already been upgraded it has not been upgraded. You get the immpression talking to their customer service that they have dragged the them in of the street and given them a half day training course .By the way they took the £29.99 upgrade fee a within two weeks of signing up all in all I am thinking I have made a big mistake in signing up for the line and broadband offer ................BE AFRAID BE VERY AFRAID
