In other words, the whole package would be £30.99 instead of £20.99 Surely, as BT controls most telephone exchanges, most people will get the same response.
If so it appears to imply that CPW are planning to unbundle exchanges and install their own gear rather faster than any other company has ever done. Unless I've got the wrong idea.0 -
i've had TT line for ages ( still free TT2 aftewr all that time )
and TT BB for about 1 yr ( at £14.99)
no problems - other than with BT line
Just did the upgrade ( believe connection fee £30) to £20.99pm - so about £5pm less than I've currently paying , and I now get the TT£ call package as well
Says speed upgrade due jan 07 ( I'm also in a sutton coldfield exchange - F Oaks , no mention of the extra £10 fee on my sign up)
The sign up on line seemed easy, with confirmation email ... now just need to keep eye on DDsAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but it's best not to get talk talk if you want to use P2P (Peer-to-Peer) (downloading movies, mp3s, etc from emule or equivelant), they are experimenting with blocking ports for these programs so they won't work.
If there's a prticular service you want to use, like streaming video, movies on demand, etc - it's best to talk to them to see if it's supported.0 -
High speed doesn't apply stricktly to downlaoding it is also good for online gamers.0

Tech support at 50p a minute..... There's so much wrong with this particular company. It's really not worth the hassle.
and 50P a minutes is a concept thought up by Carphone erm.... no I remember Freeserve wanting something like 75p per min back in the day.
This truely is a good offer make no bones about it, my order is in already.0 -
MyUserNamesTaken wrote:Ooohh...forgot one more thing - and it's a very important thing to consider. If you do take up this offer, remember that your line rental will move away from BT. That means that should you wish to leave talktalk to go to another ISP (which a lot of people will do when they discover just how crap the service really is), you have to move your line rental back to BT before signing up for broadband with anyone else.
This is not just a carphone thing it will happen with any provider using LLU and BT's 21 CN you need to read more before you slate matey. Its to do with Subsequent porting by the way.0 -

Everything you do on the 'net uses a port:
Port 80/8080 is used for web browsing.
Port 21 is used for normal file download (known as FTP - file transfer protocol)
Port 110 is generally used for receiving emails (known as POP - post office protocol)
Port 25 is generally used for sending emails (known as SMTP - simple mail transfer protocol)
Now if TT block or seriously slow down all other traffic on other ports (ie P2P, etc) then depending on port your online gaming uses - you may find yourself in the same boat as those P2P users. P2P software can be setup to use most ports (unless their is a conflict) so chances of TT just blocking a few ports are slim.0 -
Just about to sign up for talktalks new phone/broadband service when I noticed in the small print that their service does NOT support monitored burglar alarms or monitored fire alarms currently operated through a BT line.
Not a huge drawback for most people but this could possibly render your expensive alarm system useless.I`m waiting for talktalk to reply to give me a definitive answer on this one and will let you know the outcome.0 -
bbb_uk wrote:TT operate a download limit on all non-normal/every-day-use ports (ie email, web browsing, etc). There is a chance that online gaming if it uses/connects via another port, will also be seriously reduced and/or even blocked if they decide later on.
