I'm with NTL, have been for several years. No real complaints. Talking with their Customer Relations (0800 052 9403) they have now matched the TT offer with Line rental, Talk Unlimited callplan and 2meg unlimited BB for £20.49 a month. Only part missing is the "free" calls to Australia, but hey! I'm happy
Martin
Thanks for that.....
I only have BB with NTL, line with bT & calls through talk talk costing me about £51 a month. I called NTL customer services twice mentioned about cancelling and going to talk talk but asked what could they do if I brought my phone to them.
They said their best offer was £34.99 still £14 more than talk talk a month.
I decided to give it one last try and get a better deal and saw your post so I called the customer relations number you listed and the lady on the other end said straight away no problem I've found a way to match the talk talk offer. so I am now paying less for my line, calls and broadband than I was for just my broadband!!!
THANK YOU

Thanks for all the discussions.
I have decided to join with TT.
I am doing it today.0 -

I am doing it today.
I'll be interested to hear when:
(1) Landline moves to TT
(2) TT provide BBTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I have read all the posts and here is my little story..
I am moving soon and as wondering if TT was available in the area i would be moving too..
I asked the sales person to verify.. WELL!!!!!!! I think i disturbed her.. The reaction I got was abrubt and very sharp, I was shocked.. She said wait till you move then call back.. I said I dont think I will bother, she said well thats up to you..
On that note I dont think I will be.. I was seriously condering, but when I read the small print as a heavy internet user, the package would not be for me. But you know sometimes when you are looking for information you want to hear a voice so you can have things explained.. No such luck.. I felt like I was an inconvenience.. rather than say to me, 'when you move home give us a call back and we can talk you through our packages and you can choose which one is right for you'.. It was a sharp dismisal..
So no TT is not going to be my ISP...It's amazing what you can learn when you listen...0 -
Fairy3002 wrote:Hi everyone,
First time I've done a posting, so please bear with me!
Just thought I'd raise my concerns about Talk Talk.
My neighbour recently joined up for Bband over the net, received her Welcome letter but no start up pack. We called to chase (oh so many times)but each time, after finally getting through, would be put throught to their sales department who could not answer any queries. After trying to speak to someone on numerous occasions, she decided she'd had enough and wanted to cancel the contract. So she tried, and tried, and tried again, to no avail. Each call she made was again put through to the sales department who were unable to do anything at all and merely told her to call back. She emailed and, eventually got a reply saying, that she could not cancel her contract because she was out of the 'cooling off' period even though she had been calling to cancel the contract well within the time limit and has never received a modem, and therefore has never logged on to the service!
Talk talk are adamant that she is contractually bound and refuse to accept a cancellation. She has cancelled the Direct Debit with her bank so they can't take any money but they are being increasingly difficult. All of the email replies she gets are either standard responses or from different people who say they don't know the full details and she has to explain again and again.
Anyone got any ideas what she should do next?

I have just severed all links with CPW/TT due to their total ineptitude etc etc. I have decided to cancel the DD (still owing them £70 according to their T&Cs but I refuse to pay for their levels of idiocy) as well and ignore all further communications until I receive a reply to the letter I sent to Charles Dunstone (their CEO), who used to give a monkeys about his customers, explaining my circumstances. I don't suppose I hear much more but they can certainly do the leg work. If I were you I'd move on and do the same. Sod 'em!0 -
I have had good experience with Talk Talk for phone services over a few years compared to what I had from BT in the past. I have BT broadband but am now looking at the TT broadband offering but will see how things develop in terms of service before I jump.
One very basic question - I and the rest of the family have email addresses ending "@btinternet.com". Will we be able to keep these addresses if we move to Talk Talk broadband? We don't want to change. Any advice appreciated.

Most people actually use free web-based email address from yahoo.co.uk/com, hotmail.co.uk/com and gmail because these you can keep regardless of which bb supplier you use.0 -
As far as I know the 'personal email accounts' come as a courtersy with most ISP (internet server provider) packages.. When you close the account they will take back any email addresses you have as well as any webmail and web space...So I think it would be very doubtful, that bt will allow you to keep the address.. However if you have PAYG dial up then you can keep the same address because you wont be cancelling anything...
TT also may offer you their own email account, it's unlikely that they wont..
Maybe take it up with BT and ask them.. Another Idea maybe to get an indepent email address such as GMAIL YAHOO or HOTMAILIt's amazing what you can learn when you listen...0 -
I'm with NTL for both phone & broadband. I pay £24.99 for unlimited calls to any UK landline all day (line rental inc), £1.75 for Caller Display (I get any withheld numbers blocked for free) & £9.99 for 1MB Broadband. I haven't had any problems with NTL for quite some time & I did get my broadband capped @ £9.99 for 12 months (runs through to November I think) with the option of extending it when the time comes. I only use broadband for internet & emails, I don't think I've ever downloaded anything.
I know I can't get the TT plan at the moment, as I'm with NTL, but would it be worth trying to get to them (I.E swapping to BT) or not on my current price plan?2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0 -
- Why is the 18418 prefix needed for international calls?
With all billing being handled by TT they should be able to apply the correct tariff without the need for a prefix
- What is the meaning of clause 4.2 of T&Cs?
"4.2 Although your Call Service may include Inclusive Calls in accordance with the terms set out in clause 4.6 below calls to the Channel Islands and
the Isle of Man are not automatically included in your Tariff Plan or in any promotion offered by TalkTalk. In addition your Call Service will not
include the ability to make calls to the following countries: Nigeria, Columbia, Russian Federation, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sao Taome, or
Kuwait; unless we permit such access (at our own discretion). We may withdraw your ability to make calls to such countries at any time at our discretion
and without notice to you."
Why are these countries specifically excluded but call rates to them listed in the tariffs?
- Why does the tariff PDF list the price for Talk3 as £12.99 but all the advertising is for £9.99? Can we trust any of the tariffs
- OneTel offered free directory enquiries but since the take over this appears to have been dropped without any warning to customers
- Will TT customers still receive a telephone directory and Yellow pages?
- The use of information section of the T&Cs seems to give TT the right to disclose your details (including call details) to just about anyone!
- The TT Contact us Web page *Requires* account number and bank name,
How are you supposed to email questions before registering an account
