Thanks terryfow,I've just been checking the business package through the site link. We are unfortunately in an area where BT still control the exchange. but even with the extra tenner, it looks at first sight as if we could save a fair amount by switching. The comments about customer support are very interesting as I am now having to wait approx 4 hours for a telephone reply from customer support, could this be a sign of things to come? If anything interesting transpires, will get back to you. Ziggie (newbie)0

I am another one who has been with TT calls only for some time now, courtesy of MSE tarting from one provider to another. No problems so far - but hey... what can go wrong with a phone line. My BB provider however is TISCALI and I have had nothing but connectivity problems since I started it 20 months ago. (Looking at the comments in this thread it sounds like I'm getting the strangled bandwidth people talk about. All things considered I will half my monthly outlay with this package, so for me it's a risk worth taking. The BB connection cannot get any worse and if they P#~* me off enough with strangled bandwidth - I will strangle the Direct Debit and let them take me to court...... Roll on the revolution.A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist.0

Yes, talk talk have a postcode checker which tells you whether you are on an unbundled network. If you are, it's cheaper.
I'm not able to get the cheaper deal either. I have tried entering in a friend's postcode and he was able to get the cheaper deal, just my rotten luck.something missing0 -
MSE_Martin wrote:My overall view is this tariff will be a winner for many, especially as it is very likely you will be able to use it in conjunction with other cheap calls providers to cut the cost of calling mobiles and making other calls. Of course, it isn't without its problems, yet that's the same with most providers.Unfortunately I'm still waiting for its answers about using cheap call providers with it
What’s stopping us from using Webweb or Webphone providers such as AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Sightpeed, Skype, VoipStunt and VoipCheap?0 -
Well, I signed up for talk talk Tuesday.
This thread started Wednesday, read some of the negative comments, some I had not thought about.
So Thursday I went to carphone warehouse to cancel, they said they can't do it there, you will have to phone this free number he said.
So I did, person on other end said you can't cancel here and give me a 0870 number.
On the phone 18 minutes cost £1.176.
That will teach me to jump, before I was even pushed.0 -
I have been reading this thread with considerable interest.
I have been using the Talk Talk free evening and weekend call service for a year and a half now.
Saw the Broadband offer and signed up last Friday.
They told me I would be getting the service the end of May, not too bad.
ANyway, read this thread and since I am an incredibly heavy p2p (Soulseek) user began to get flutterings of panic.
I searched their website in vain for a contact telephone number to cancel, and like other users finally found one for sales, who then gave me another number to call (luckily used the works mobile to call!). When I got through, they asked me for my order number which I couldn't remember where I had put it. So the guy at the end of the phone told me I couldn't cancel without the order number. I told him he was talking a lot of codswallop and I would like a copy of the terms and condtions that said I couldn't cancel unless I had an order number, particularly since I already had an account with them.
ANyway, after a few threats of invoking long distance selling regulations and mumblings of trading standings, they finally 'decided' to let me cancel.
I took his name just in case, I can see them 'forgetting' ho hum.....
Today, still slightly miffed at the thought of 'losing' the expected £30 a month they'd saved me, decided to go and torment AOL, presently on the Platinum package of £29.99.
So I cheerily asked for my MAC number. After VERY thoroughly going through all the benefits I'd lose, and an in depth comparison, they finally offered me a £10 reduction for life on the present package!
So, still not tied in, and can sit here waiting for the next quality provider to drop their prices, £120 a year better off!
Thanks MSE!!0 -
In view of the last 2 posts it looks like difficult to cancel, before you start, could be a downside.0

This would still be a good offer for me, even for the phone alone, but most importantly is their broadband any good for online gaming? Has anyone experience of gaming on TT broadband? If so I would like to hear any comments you have on it positive or negative.
Thanks

Unless you make lots of Intl Calls to the Countries they allow you to call for free?, its not a great deal. Consider this.
TT inclusive Talk 3(free 01/02 calls 24/7) package with caller display will cost £21.49 a month they charge £1.50p a month for caller display.
Bt charge £11 a month line rental including caller display. Add to this the FREE Evening and Weekend 01/02 package from Primus Saver.Your still got £10.49 a month to play with. That will give you 349!!!! peak calls to 01/02 numbers a month if you use 1899 at peak.
Also if away EG Holiday .TT still charge for calls you dont use, the way i suggested costs nowt.PF.0 -
Thanks for that pricefighter.
I have a live in au pair from Slovakia ( one of the most expensive european state countries to phone due to there being only one main operator over there at the moment) so this would be a cracking deal just for the regular calls to this country.
Broadband is my only other concern, as in the post above, just want to make sure it is ok for online gaming.............looking for others views that have been on it.
Tnanks Rolls0
