  • OK before i take the plunge a join TalkTalk, a few questions, which i hope can be answered:

How long will it take BT to issue me with a final biull for my line rental? Will it be the day of the switch?

Can i view my current call status online, to see the current cost of my bill?

Also, will the Talk3 package be active on the day of the line transfer?

I joined TalkTalk this month, left Pipex who I had loads of problems with. My phone line was connected very quick and then my broadband the following week (my golive date was end of August but was live on 26th July.

The customer service line was quite quick to get through to (about 2 minutes) and is free from your TalkTalk phone line. The member of staff was very polite and helpful.

I have a couple of problems. Firstly since moving to TalkTalk, the Quidco web site thinks I am now not from the UK. I contacted Quidco who say it is because I have moved to TalkTalk and some of my transactions may not be paid and they can't chase a payment from a non UK IP address.

The other problem is TalkTalk quote up to 8 meg broadband. I have tested mine and it is only 1 meg, even though I know with BT it could be up to 3 meg. I have emailed them asking them why and waiting for a reply.

So far I am very pleased with the service and price. :T

Have been with talk talk two months now, I agree getting through to them is a nightmare, early evening has proved the best, still no modem or cd , however I changed from another company so have setup manually with my previous equipment. I am a light phone user and internet user and had no problems with the service so far, even got my own name with the email (yay). I must confess the connect seems alot better using my router then my usb modem, but might be a router thing. All I received was a letter saying it was live with username and password, added broadband account to my account, went to broadband dashboard, setup email. configuired my router and outlook express from faqs on there site, and all worked first time no probs. I phone loads of times for the modem and cd, its on its way, Dont really need it, but have paid for it so want it. Also I would like to know if on the cd do you get talktalk homepage, or is their homepage the talktalk.co.uk one when you access the net for the first time, as just have google as my hompage at the moment.

So far so good touch wood. Quite happy at the moment.

You set whatever homepage you want, most people use either Yahoo or Google as their homepage.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)

I received my final BT bill 2 weeks after my phone was connected to TalkTalk and then I received a cheque (refund) the following day from BT.

The TalkTalk phone package was active from the date of the switch.

My connection to the Talk 3 with broadband package has unfortunately been riddled with problems and poor customer service. I was already a Talk Talk (2) customer and upgraded for the Talk 3/ Broadband package; as with most people this was for the lure of the free broadband. I applied in April, it is now August and still no broadband. They have not contacted me once to explain what's going on, I have had to contact them 4/ 5 times to chase up.

I take some responsibility for not reading all details fully but what this has meant in practice is that I have been continuing to pay my old broadband company monthly whilst waiting, and also had my payments to Talk Talk increased by £8.50 per month (for international calls which I don't make!), so instead of saving money it has cost me more. And poor customer service to boot.

I called Talk Talk again today and they explained that the broadband and phone contract are separate - I could cancel the broadband order but would still be tied into the phone contract for 18 months (unless I pay £70 fee), even though for 5 months they have not supplied Broadband which was my whole reason for upgrading! I think it's appalling that their marketing campaign has targetted the free broadband and yet this isn't even part of the same contract.

Anyway, if you are thinking of moving to Talk Talk, just be aware that your contract is for the phone package, not for the broadband, and make sure you keep on top of them with regards to getting broadband to go live, they're not very forward in contacting you about problems.
