More news about TT's 'free' broadband and in some cases the long wait here, and from it I quote:-Carphone has signed up 476,000 customers to its 'free' broadband deals since April, bringing its total user base to 596,000 customers – almost a five-fold increase in three months. However, only 247,000 have had their connections activated so far due to waiting times of up to ten weeks for subscriptions to go live.
If you ask me 5 weeks seems a little far fetched to solve the many problems!0 -

Has anyone tried to ring AOL? My god what a nightmare. My bt direct debit is £20 a month and my AOL 1mb Is £19.99(special rate as i said i was leaving them 14 months ago) So For me who rarley needs any tech support or has any queries on the service i am getting its a dam good deal.
I very much doubt anyone will come along in less than 18 months to offer anything better. My saving will be £324 over 18 months. I cannot fault it. I say take the gamble.0 -

In addition to my previous post. Email service was erratic and often not available and broadband slow I now have 8.1 with Pipex. I did not need to contact Tech Support all my problems resulted from their administration of My Account.0 -

They have had over 2 years to fix the problems and yet they are still as bad if not worse than they were over 2 years ago, and they were useless then, if they haven't managed to fix their problems in over 2 years, I can't see them fixing them in 5 weeks. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... At last TT is back, mine stopped working last night and has just come back on now. I phoned CS technical probs was on hold for over 10 mins at 10p a minute only to be told that their servers were down - argghhhhhhh
Why not make that annoucement at the beginning of my call, probably because it is generating extra income keeping me on hold.
I really wish I had stayed with TiscaliI am the only Voucher Queen in my village LOL

Basically, TT know that you will have no alternative to call their tech support so as well as charging 10p/min they even charge a 10p connection charge just incase you can't be bothered staying on phone and waiting for them to answer.
This is very underhanded by TalkTalk and actually penalises their landline customers than if you had to call them from another teleco which would ultimately be cheaper than calling from their own landline service.
As far as I'm aware no other teleco is as underhanded as that.0 -
On their Talk 3 / Talk 3 International package they charge more than BT to call mobiles unless you take their extra charge mobile option at £1.50 / month, the £1,000 challenge states that on Talk 3 / Talk 3 International you must also have the mobile extra option before you can claim. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... I've been with talktalk landline for a while now, and i still havent recieved a final bill yet, so i emailed BT and i got this reply:
"Thank you for your e-mail dated 4/8/06 with regards to the final bill.
Having checked your account details, I would like to inform that your BT telephone line was cancelled on the 18/7/06; however you still rent broadband equipment and the direct debit is still activated on your phone line.
I am sorry to inform that this is the reason why BT has not sent a final bill to you.
I would also like to inform that if you wish to cancel this equipment and stop your line completely please reply back your consent for the same so that we can cancel the equipment and send you the final bill.
I hope this information is up to your satisfaction."
Now i dont understand this, I'm with Nildram broadband, and thats switching to TalkTalk sometime next week, so can it be cancelled then? Do they mean I'm using broadband equipment at the exchnage?0 -

I would reply back asking them to look into this and stating that you have your broadband with Nildram and pay them directly and your linerental is with TT (soon both will be with TT) so why are they charging you for broadband you don't receive from them.BexTech wrote:On their Talk 3 / Talk 3 International package they charge more than BT to call mobiles unless you take their extra charge mobile option at £1.50 / month, the £1,000 challenge states that on Talk 3 / Talk 3 International you must also have the mobile extra option before you can claim.
If TT still expect you to get their mobile option so make it a fair comparison between them and BT's new price for Option 3 then I believe that would be unfair comparison and t&c. All comparisons have to be fair and if BT's £9.95 includes 25% discount on mobiles but yet TT's doesn't and they state the £1,000 claim can only be claimed for those paying "extra" for their mobile option then this is obviously an unfair t&c as it's not a like-for-like (ie similar) tariff.0 -
TalkTalk also exclude non-geographic numbers from the £1,000 challenge as TalkTalk are dearer than BT for those too. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc...
