I changed over (from BT) mainly for the TT phone benefits.. my phone bill savings will be substantial :)

    What benefits?are they

    The chargeable caller display.
The £1 a month extra if you like paper billing.
The 0870 customer service number you have to call if your phone does not work.
The dearer call packages then other providers.
The fact they can bar your calls to the likes of 1899/18185.

Their are far better ways of saving money on your phone bills.

    The free anytime UK calls
    The free anytime International calls
    The reduced calls to Mobiles
I don't use paper billing (the environment thanks me)
I don't use caller display (theres no-one in particular Im trying to avoid)
Dearer call packages?? My calls are free!
I don't use the likes of 1899/18185 etc... not much point when my calls are free

and of course to top it off (once it's installed) the free bband

all that for £21 p/m (plus mobile call charges but i don't call many of those)...

so, these 'far better ways of saving money on my phone bills..' what are they? :)

    (1) You aren't getting free anytime calls, you are paying for them in the monthly cost.
    (2) You aren't getting free anytime calls, you are paying for them in the monthly cost.
    (3) The reduced cost of calls to mobiles is only fractions of a penny, better deals elsewhere if you do call mobiles.
    (4) That's good to hear.
    (5) Caller Display is always useful
    (6) Your calls aren't free, you are paying for them in the monthly charge, for most people they never make the amount of calls required to make the service value for money.
    (7) Your calls aren't free, you are paying for them in a monthly charge, if you make no calls, you still pay the monthly charge, this is where these companies make their money, because you have to keep paying each and every month for calls you don't make.

TalkTalk do try to brainwash people into believing they are getting a great deal, when in fact they are just fleecing people, it wouldn't be so bad, if TalkTalk offered a decent broadband service and were actually saving people on phone calls instead of making them pay for inclusive calls they wouldn't ever usually make enough of.

As TalkTalk broadband is next to useless, they should be paying people to have their broadband, not fleecing customers, £21 per month for call packages they wouldn't have ever dreamt of using previously, because of the high cost compared to what is out there.

Whichever way I or you choose to word what I'm getting 'free' or 'inclusive' matters not.

What does matter is that in leaving BT for TT we're cutting our phone/bb costs by more than 50%. Typically my BT phone/bb monthly bill would be £60-£80, with TT it'll be £21-£30... thank you TT for brainwashing me

It's hardly suprising that since their launch and the massive amount of new customers that they have teething problems and cockups and frankly, im expecting them.

You may find Caller Display 'always useful'... that doesnt mean everyone does. I have no need whatsoever to know who is calling me before I answer the phone.

They've been going for over 2 years for their broadband, it was useless then, it's still no better now, if they haven't managed to sort their problems out in over 2 years what makes you think they will be any different soon?

Whose fault was it for paying the high BT prices and not using many of the better and much cheaper alternatives? This is where BT make their money, there are many people out there who just keep paying the high BT prices without looking around for better offers.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought I read in their CPW mags that Caller Display was included with it? This was back when you had to take the international option which cost a £1 more despite it being advertised as free which later resulted in TalkTalk being told off by the ASA.

It definitely isn't included now from what I can see so either I was wrong to start with or that it was included back when you had to take the international option but since they were forced to make it available to those that took the normal all-inclusive plan they decided to drop it!

by the way, as someone who has the following in their sig:

It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... (It's No one not Noone).

It's somewhat ironic that you use who's instead of whose in the above quote

That aside, either go troll somewhere else or actually tell me about these 'better cheaper alternatives' you keep mentioning. That, would at least be helpful.

    LOL

"Troll somewhere else", don't know if it has escaped you, it is you who is on here with very few posts, I am certainly not a troll, never have been, never will be, maybe you should follow your own advice, or at least lookup the meaning of internet troll, as I am always happy to help people along the way on here as many well know.

TalkTalk wouldn't be a bad offer if their broadband actually worked more than 5 minutes without fault and wasn't slower than dial-up when it is working in addition the customer was someone who would usually make several hundred phone calls per month.

Maybe you do make several hundred calls per month and maybe you don't mind a poor broadband service, if that is the case than maybe the TalkTalk service is right for you.

For me having a reliable broadband service is important, so that throws TalkTalk out of the window, when you can get call packages for nothing that does give you free evening and weekend calls and then daytime calls for 3p each, all you pay is the £11 line rental and a not much for the few daytime calls that maybe made.

I dumped my landline altogether over a year ago now, so just pay for my broadband, which I got the cost reduced for another year and they threw in starter TV package, and I use VoIP for my phone calls, which gives me 1,200 minutes per month to the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and several other European countries for £1.80 and that £1.80 isn't lost on the inclusive calls as the credit can be used against chargeable calls.

why is it that youve been no help to me?

Probaly because you have made up your mind, and despite the fact you say you are scared about the move, you ignore advice and insult well meaning members.

You seem to have overlooked the following guideline .
