Talk-Talk What I Know So Far....

If I was running a company that had 100,000 complaints / not happy customers out of 625,000 then alarm bells would be ringing and I'd want to sort the problem out quickly.
However TalkTalk never seem to care about unhappy customers as long as they have customers is all they seem happy about, they only seem to concentrate on gaining new customers and not keeping existing ones, something is wrong there.
For a couple of years they have offered very ropey broadband, at the beginning they never had the infrastructure in place and now they are taking on even more customers they still haven't improved the infrastructure, if they haven't sorted out their problems in over 2 years, I can't see them acting any quicker to sort out the problems in the future, TalkTalk at the moment are one of those companies that are only after money today and not thinking about what will happen when everyone leaves tomorrow.
For us even 1,000 complaints / unhappy customers or even 100 out of 625,000 is a far too high percentage. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
alzeebub wrote:Why do you ask, do you work for a TT competitor?
Even if we go by the churn figures quoted here, it still leaves the VAST majority of TT's new customers as non-complainers.
@ utilitybroker: this estimated 80-120k customers who have apparently thrown in the towel already, where do those figures come from? I'd be very interested to see some proof.
re: Watchdog complaints and the'huge' amount you say they received... do you have numbers or is it some arbitrary figure that you interprate as huge?
Even if watchdog had 100k complaints, (which i seriously doubt) that would still leave the vast majority of customers happy!
C'mon people, either be constructive and accurate with your hating or !!!!!!
No i dont work for a competitor, and i was not asking you anyway.
I seem to recall hidden away in the various threads that Utilitybroker did provide a source. But i cant find it.
Even if they had 40,000 clawbacks that would be to many,in this type of commercial offering.
The CEO of TT admits that he got it wrong,so why are you defending their Incompetent Customer service, which is expensive to call.
I dont think hate comes into it so why drag that in i dont know.
The BBC said this in October about the number of complaints.
"In April 2006, the company offered 'free broadband forever' to anyone signing up to its international calls package. Since then, hundreds of viewers have sent letters and emails to the programme every month. Many signed up to the offer, but never received the free broadband. "

I'm well aware who you were asking, but bearing in mind the questions 'asandwhen' had asked Im somewhat baffled why you asked it, hence my response.

again, Id be hugely interested to see the proof... until then its just more arbitrary numbers pulled from the ether!

Where did you get the 40k number?? Yet another arbitrary number? lol

Dunstone has indeed admitted to getting it wrong... they say they underestimated just how popular free bband would be... personally i think thats bull... they knew how popular it wopuld be and simply didnt have time/money/inclination (whatever) to put the correct infrastructure in place to cope with the massive demand. So far, Ive not had to use their CS, incompetent or otherwise... but it's free to call from your TT phone line, and its a straighforward 0870 number which many ppl on here can attest doesnt have to be expensive to call! Dunstone also said on Watchdog that the other £2 charge sometimes introduced to the cost of a CS call is only supposed to be if the customer asks about something unrelated to their service/products... ie: how to make your own fax software work or a printer etc
I dont think hate comes into it so why drag that in i dont know.
The slating that TT has come under in this thread alone is astounding. As i said in a previous post its mostly people with an axe to grind who post in threads like this... its just a shame more people who are happy with the service will never post.

There is no doubt that some people are unhappy with the delay in TT sorting their free bband service out... but again, just put it in perspective, consider the amount of customers who (according to their lack of complaint) are actually happy, then compare that to the hundreds who've complained each month since April06... frankly im amazed that TT have managed to keep as many happy as they have!

There are many complaints on that site, as well as a few threads saying how happy they are... that really echoes what Ive said earlier... unhappy ppl complain, happy ones stay quiet
I've answered your points in the above quoted post."The reasonable man adapts to the world,
The unreasonable man adapts the world to himself,
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."0 -
Well I joined Talk Talk before any of the 'Free' Broadband, for my phone and broadband and had nothing but problems with them.
I am now Talk Talk 'Free' at long last. I have never ever dealt with such an incompetent company and it was such a great relief when I got my final settlement cheque (money they owed me through taking money from my bank after I had left them).
I would never advise anyone to have anything to do with Talk Talk.0 -
I was a TalkTalk customer for 3 months.. the basic min they would allow and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone now as they are terrible.
After cancelling the dd with my bank due to some probs, I tried to pay by switch and on 4 occasions they debited my bank acc and then put the money back at the same time, and for some odd reason couldnt explain why despite me using 2 different cards. Aside from this it once took me 20 mins to get thru only to be put on hold for 10 mins and then their IVR system cutting me off, so I was less than impressed.
To top it all off, I switched back to BT in June, and after 3 months, received a bill from TalkTalk - their excuse being the line was disconnected but the line rental wasn't.
I'm only now with BT as I don't know of any other decent cheap provider.0 -
Primus Saver 2 is an excellent low call cost provider along with 1899 and 18185.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

I'd agree with BexTech, I'm now with Primus and also use 1899 and 18185.0 -
Why all this criticism of Talktalk. I signed up with very little problem and so far it has been excellent and saving me a fortune moneywise. Carphone Warehouse has also contributed in no small way to other isps lowering their exorbitant prices. My advice -sign up before they stop membership. Seven members of my family all use TT and have no complaints either.0

Maybe because you have just been lucky, they are a dreadful company, even TalkTalk now admit they were/are rubbish. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc...
