Sounds OK to me. They've not replied to my e-mail yet; but it's only, urm, Tuesday now actually!
I'll give them a few days, see what happens. I've got my MAC from Ace, so am free to go when I choose.
If Primus don't respond, then I'm seriously looking at Eclipse; 40gb peak usage per month but no off-peak limit all for £25.00. Sounds fair to me. We'll see...0 -
when i went to primus from plusnet .I phoned them up and gave them the code which seemed to spped things up a bit0

Which code? Your MAC? I'm not giving my MAC to anyone until I know what they're offering! You can only use it once and I don't want to sign up with Primus until I'm 100% sure they're the right provider for me. I've already had a bad time with Toucan and now Ace, I don't fancy getting caught up again!
Anyway, I only sent the e-mail Saturday, so I'm willing to wait a few days. If they don't reply by, say, Friday, I'll know they're not the ISP for me.0 -
I also had the phone call from Primus and am interested in changing over my BB service. Am currently with Virgin, so no tie-in, although they require 30 days notice for cancellation. (Joined Virgin before June 2005, so no 'leaving' charge applied.)
Looking for advice on any actions I need to take or pitfalls to watch out for. If I phone Virgin and give notice of cancellation, do they give me the MAC code there and then or will it be issued nearer the service cancellation date? I assume Primus require this before they can activate my service.
When I joined Virgin, I received a free Speedtouch modem - can I continue to use this?
Does anyone know if the rebate from Primus is paid as a credit to your Bill, or paid in cash back to your bank account? I make most of my calls in the evening/weekend and am on their Saver 2 option, so phone call charges are minimal. If the rebate is credited to the phone bill it would take an awful long time to use it up.

They should supply you with the MAC code within 5 days. You may be billed for 30 days after you apply for your MAC code, check with Virgin T&C'snellietheel wrote:When I joined Virgin, I received a free Speedtouch modem - can I continue to use this?
Yes, However you will get another Speedtouch modem. Going rate for these on eBay is <£10nellietheel wrote:Does anyone know if the rebate from Primus is paid as a credit to your Bill, or paid in cash back to your bank account? Its a credit to your bill, you will not have to worry about the credit being used up as your broadband fee will use it up for you. They do seem to have an option to pay £1 a month more (£16.99 for 2Meg, 12mo Contract) and there is no cash back, just a flat rate.0 -
bump to the top - people asking me for details on the BB0

It's not been the best experience swapping to them. I still haven't been connected and this is around a month now. They have credited £10 to my account for the inconvenience, so the deal seems a little better. I just wish the change over had gone better. At least you can speak to a person on the 0800 number and get some information.0

When are they going to get all info and sign up on a website and how long before the freephone 0800 changes to a 0870?0

That's the trouble when you have to rely on the hopeless BT to do the switching at the exchange. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Can someone recommend a speed tester? I've tried the adsl, and the Tiscali one but wonder why there is such a huge difference in the results.
