Kama-UK - Oh! dear, looks like you are locked in for a year. Best thing is to write letter to their Chief Executive, sorry don't have his details, but Google might.

Thanks theloft, i was wondering what any of your more experienced members think of Virgin Broadband, this is who i wanted to be with but when i spoke to them they told us they dont have plans to put BB into our area because it would use too much cable i live on the south coast between brighton and peacehaven.

On paper Virgin look really good, Fibre Optic, cheap Telephone + TV package, customer service is responsive.

Are Primus apart of TALKTALK group?

Interesting read this thread. After getting a recommendation for the Primus Line Rental Saver product in the latest MSE email I was considering signing up.
Not now. Looks like there are reasons why Primus is cheap. So I'll be sticking with my current ISP and BT, even though they just increased their line rental fee.

Are there any other reliable providers to BT that offer a good standard of service at a lower cost?

Is Primus limited to specific areas?

Steven, if you want to stay with 02 and get a better rate, why not get a free o2 SIM on a pay as you go basis. Top up with £10, then providing you use it once a month the £10 will last for ages. If you don't want the bother of changing your SIM once a month, you could get an old mobile for a few pounds. Then you would be set up with reduced rate for o2, and a spare mobile. I use my son's contract number! Just a thought. I looked at BT and they were much too expensive, even with the 3 free months offer. Mind you you could probably get cashback from Quidco or similar.

Thanks all for the Primus tip-off. Having signed up for the cheap phone&BB Primus Saver package (recommended on this site), I waited 22 days for a BT techie to arrive and hook me up - when he did, he said there was no connection and that it was TalkTalk who'd booked him? After checking the forums, I've just cancelled my contract within the 14 day cooling off period (I was waiting in the queue for 30+mins). Dodged a bullet I hope.
Could anyone recommend a bona fide, and yet cheap, provider for line rental and BB please? (the phone's not really important, I just need BB as I skype a lot).
    Thanks again

Primus for tele line :D:D:D (seriously!)
Then use any other broadband provider! :)
As far as i know, its only Sky and BE that provide broadband.
ALL other major ISP's give you a pure rubbish, in the form of 'broadband'.....

I'm in the process of having a tele line moved with Primus, nightmare to deal with, but if the process goes quickly, i'll be happy.. Would'nt use them for broadband, as they told me they resell (either LLU or BT Wholesale, whichever the cheapest one they can do!) Fair enough, nice to be honest!
  • im still having problems with primus, when i contacted them last it took 40mins to speak to customer service, when i told them im getting low speeds they said "turn your PC off then On" erm this dont do anything, then they ran a line test and said my download speed is between 10 and 13mb (ok acceptable) Upload they said was 0mb, they said i had to contact BT to fix it, but BT say that it is Primus's line they should fix it, but primus are refusing to take ownership of this. Poor customer service, poor internet, constant disconnection from the web, insane lagging with online games, DO NOT GO WITH PRIMUS
i missed a payment by 1 day, and they cut me off everything and took 5 days to reconnect
Oh and trying to find somebody to complain to is a complete nightmare, nobody seems to want to know
