Am I the only one still left on Primus BB? Maybe that's why I am getting good download speeds! ;) I have been tempted to change, but really haven't had any complaints lately. I know Sky would be cheaper but I think it might be like jumping into the fire! And do I need to hassle with Primus about bills???
Good luck westcountrymaid! Oh, do you like the Orange service?

No complaints with Orange so far (touch wood) was too good a deal to miss as my DH has contract mobile. I've got my landline with them too which means I can phone any orange mobiles via their Orange line for free. As my daughter only has orange mobile and no landline and my DH only has mobile in his workshop this has saved me a lot of money.

I have been offered free BB from Orange, with line rental. Sky is cheaper even with line rental. My neighbour has Sky and and his speed is quite slow. I don't want to change and get less than I pay for now, even if cheaper. I guess I am not in the mood for money saving at the moment. ( does that make sense?)

Had phone call from "Maggie" at Primus, fingers crossed, but it would seem that my account is now closed, and that the amount that has been incorrectly charged, has been refunded to the account, and virtually equals what the last bill issued was claiming, and that my account amount was now set to zero.

I also did state that the direct debit was closed, and that they would not receive the £23 that was charged on that bill, but as i was told the account had been set to nothing owed, i think (or hope) that "Maggie" understood what i told her. I have asked for this to be confirmed, in writing. Hopefully, this is it all sorted, and that i will not have to deal with Primus again.

Just to update you on my position Stephen, Despite assurrances from Primus that a credit for an incorrect direct debit made after the account was closed would be made to my credit card, I have now received an official REMINDER letter from Primus (no reply address) stating that they will be taking further action unless I Pay them £16.08 in the next 7 days. So although they owe me money they are now trying to get a further £16.08 from me. I am writing to them stating that I am taking them to court if this matter is not resolved promptly. If anyone else is still with Primus, beware !!

    Thats not so good.

This sort of thing, is what now puts me off signing up for unknown companies, you only have to look at the forum for horror stories belonging to people who sign up to companies selling too good to be true offers.

Primus, at the time, did get quite a good report, from forum users, when the free evening and weekend calls started, then the broadband.

There was no horror stories, to base on what Primus ended up becoming, of which going on my own experiences with them, started long before the move to India.

Bills being far behind, wrong billing, packages not being correctly set up, erratic billing dates, credits not being issued, T&C's made up as they go along, etc etc, all this happened before India.

In my opinion, Primus really went into freefall from the beginning of 2008.

So glad, to be shot of them now, and would not recommend them to anyone.

I now have BT for calls, and O2 for broadband, at least BT have a "real time" online billing where i can see my call usage (up to 10pm night before), and both companies, are billing on time, to be honest, perhaps it is better the devil you know.

Fingers crossed, that you get this sorted.

Have you thought of phoning Otelo for advice?
  • Another 'ex' Primus user still having bills after cancelling my broadband last year Primus say that have no record of me cancelling my broadband, only my telephone contract.

Primus gave me my MAC code on the 8th September 2008. I have been with Orange for my phone and BB since 12th September.
I ended up putting the phone down on the lady at the call centre this morning in frustration. The bill I received this morning was for 15.52 but she said I owed them two bills of 21.00 and was willing to waiver one of them:confused:.
I received a bill from them in February for 19.33 I rang them and they said that I owed them 36.94. This was because I cancelled before my contract had finished. I told them I had been with them since the start of their bb in 2006 so had been out of my contract for some time. Was then told they would waiver the charges. I don't know where they get their figures from??

Would really appreciate it if you could give me a different no from the customer services no that I have.

Quick update, after several more phone calls and emails I finally had an email yesterday stating that they 'had applied the adjustments to the account and have terminated my account completely' I breathed a sigh of relief, however in the post that very same morning I had another bill from Primus :confused:I'm just hoping the bill is a mistake

I'm now sending copies of emails and bill to Primus in Glasgow.

Funny you mention that, i also had a paper bill from Primus (arrived in post on Saturday), even though BT took over my line rental and calls back in November and O2 took over the broadband back in October, what is even more funny, is the bill total of £2.65 CREDIT!

Phoned Primus, and got told that they would zero the account, so i wouldn't get any more bills, although that doesn't answer, why wait for months to send a paper bill, let alone the fact when the account was closed it was in credit, so if it should be anyone sending a bill, that would be me to them!

What i didn't like, is that i phoned up, quoted account number, name, address and password, (and not once did i get that i was an ex customer) all on an account that is supposed to be closed, how long do companies keep you on file, before the account details are deleted?

I did take a note of who i spoke to and the time and date of the call, as my previous encounters, have shown that what Primus says on the phone, and what Primus does after the call, can be a world apart, especially having previous with this lot, calling me a liar, this is even after having written/email correspondence that clearly stated what i was saying was the truth.

Just shows how inept Primus has become.

Out of interest I logged into my Prumus account today but could not get in so hopefully that means I am no longer a customer:T

Just tried it, and managed to log in, they even have the bill sent out in the post on it!

You would think, that a customer that left last year, and the last bill was issued in January this year, with the account actually in credit, would have been closed down by now, and that the username/password for the ex customer would no longer work.

I am afraid the left leg doesn't know what the right leg is up to at Primus.
