Could anyone confirm what they are actually being charged/Quoted for the 2Mbs service... Here goes my experience:
I Phoned up for the Saver option 2 and got talked in the broadband. I was quoted:
£ 20.98 a month for a 12 month contract with a rebate £15 every 3 months making cost per month of £15.98 (Also then 3 months free after 12 months)
Then a letter arrived 3 days later with the following:
Broadband type:2 MB/s 12 months
Price before discount: £23.99
Discount: £6
Price with discount : £17.99
I also talked my g/f in to signing up and she got the following in her letter:
Price before discount: £23.99
Discount: £7
Price with discount : £16.99
So I phoned back to Graeme (Ask for this chap if your ordering hes very helpful and friendly and on commision) and he re-confirmed what he quoted me (£15.98) and sent me the following email:
Dear Mr *******,
Please accept this letter as confirmation regarding our recent discussion. The initial letter you received stated that your monthly charge for the Primus Free talk Plus 2 package would be more than I quoted over the phone. The full price which would debited from your account on a monthly basis according to the Free Talk Plus package including broadband is £20.98. A £5 rebate is paid quarterly which would therefore be £15 paid back into your account every 3 months. This would therefore mean that the amount payable would be £15.98 if you take this rebate off the monthly price.
If you have any further problems please don’t hesitate to contact us on 0800 036 3839.
Yours sincerely
Graeme McArthur

Anyone paying any more or less?0 -
Why do they need to rebate money every quarter, why not charge the correct price in the first place?
Is there going to be problems getting this rebate every quarter.
Why try and tie in a phone package if you just want BB.0 -
thats what I was quoted , works ok though ,0

Just read this thread and been quoted the same figures. I've signed up with them for the 2mb package. He did state though that with the discount package I do lose the 1p a minute mobile rate. Not that bothered about that. Went for the 12 month option. He also stated that the offer ends today. Whether this is true or not who knows. Quoted 14 days for the switch over.0

I've just written a long tract on Primus broadband, taking apart the contradictions between what the salesman said, and what their T&C said...
But then managed to lose it before I posted it.
<sigh> To summarise, the guy said unlimited, the T&C says limited - then refers to a non existent web site for the conditions. Also there is an Acceptable Use Policy, referring to a non existent web site.
They also say they can do what they like with your personal details, including send info to 3rd parties and countries where the DPA doesn't protect you.
If you want the T&C as sent to me in word format, pm me with your email address.
I am tempted, but broadband suppliers are littered with people who have started out on 12month contracts and lost out.
If anyone has it in writing about verbal T&C post here, or add to the contradictions.

I've been connected for about 12hours now. Phoned on the 23rd may went live on 1st june. I've migrated over from freedom2surf (was paying £24.99 a month 2meg).
For some speed info here goes:
Done the usual ADSL guide speedtest and it looked about on par with freedom if not slightly higher.
Downloaded a 10meg test file from a HTTP server (during peak times) and averaged around 219k/s (slower than freedom)
I'm a heavy downloader using the bittorrent protocol. Speeds again on par with freedom about 210-220K/s from a good tracker.
My minimum ping time with freedom was about 50ms with primus it more like 40ms (source l8nc.com) - General surfing does seems snappier.
My IP address appears to be STATIC (Woohoo!!!) But as ive only had one reconnect in 12hours this could be a false positive.
The primus SMTP server is REALLY REALLY slow, not sure why but mozilla takes ages to send mails.
My L8nc graph can be seen here:
http://www.l8nc.com/graph.php?jid=512ac1f110cc3c71a62ce377b9570536
If your looking at it today (02 jun ) and you look at yesterdays graph you will see before 2.30am freedoms graph, then when i finally got up and connected with eprimus - primus's graph. Note I download/upload 24/7 so lots of activity. The small spikes of packet loss are normal for me due to my cheapass router (Dlink 504T), constant downloading and always appeared with any broadband provider I have been with. I also use a QoS setting to try and keep network latency to < 150ms.
Things initally look quite promising. I'll give another update in a week if anyone is intrested.0 -
I have too say after the initial glitches (on the 25th May) my connection and surfing has been no different to BTYahoo which cost £29.99 a month just for 2meg (although they did say if I kept with them for 12 months it would be £26.99 and possibly 8 meg) I do not download alot but there are 3 of us sharing the network with my son an Xbox games player. I have now switched phone providers as well on option 2 using Orchid dialer and have been quoted that BB will be charged from 16th June so nearly 3 weeks free (we will see).
I have gone for the 2meg BB 18 months and Option 2 phone package £15.99 discounted £7 from £22.99 a month bearing in mind I also had Tesco Option 2 free evening and weekends £3.97 a month and BT line rental £11. If the service is reliable and they did switch me over very quickly none of this fiasco like TalkTalk I will be very happy but I still think its too early for judgement though and they should have this offer on their web but it might be too limit take up so as too test systems and cope with capacity thats assuming they are that efficient.
Customer service on free 0800 number is very fast (never had too wait brilliant) very curteous and helpful, although as I have said their technical knowledge a little light (the call centre seems too be in UK as well).
So all in all very pleased for now.Look after the pennies and the pounds will spend themselves0
