Further to my post 266 above, I was first of all assurred that as an existing Primus customer I could change to the new package without a further contract. I decided I would do so while seeing if any further deals came up, but when it came to agreeing the deal they now say that it is 18 months for the line rental, they would give me 12 months on the BB contract. I am reluctant to sign up for 18 months but this seems to be the norm now. Does anyone know of a good deal without signing for 18 months ??
Cannot get SKY package and TalkTalk is also 18 months.

I obtained my MAC from Primus with the intention of moving to another ISP as they only deal they offered me was the 18-month contract bundle with transfer of BT line rental as well. However as I have been really happy with them, decided to ring Sales and ask why nobody had tried to retain me as a customer and that I did not wish to sign up for 18 months or transfer my BT line. They have a new package on offer (came out this week) for Broadband only at £14 per month, 1-year contract, unlimited downloada with speeds up to 8Mb. Telephone calls are now on Option 2 package which gives free evening and week-end calls to 01/02 numbers. I am happy with this and have decided to remain with them. The only other thing is you have to agree with electronic billing, which is not a problem.

I received this email from Primus on Wednesday the 24th, this explains why you couldn't connect last night/this morning.

    "Dear Primus Broadband customer,

In order to upgrade the current systems Primus Broadband customers will experience downtime from Thursday 25th October 23:59 - 06:00 on Friday 26th. This will affect all internet connectivity, Primus websites as well as incoming and outgoing email services.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will work to ensure your services are restored quickly.

Please contact our Customer Service Team should you have any questions in relation to the outage.

    Kind regards

I emailed them and this is the response I got yesterday, 25th October,

The rates for BB would be as follows on our most popular tariff – Saver 2 (free evening and weekend calls)

    1MB 12 MONTH – £14.99
    1MB 18 MONTH – £13.99
    2MB 12 MONTH - £16.99
    2MB 18 MONTH - £15.99

The BB service is not on our website and can only be found by calling our sales team on 0800 036 0094.

Has anyone been with them for the full year yet ? I noticed that on this month's bill they had omitted the £15 rebate, so that was one thing. But during June I will have been with them for over 1 year and wondered how they work this '3 month's free' deal. Also what about the 4th quarter's rebate, how does that get paid ? They seemed to indicate that the "loyalty bonus" would continue after the year, has anyone any answers to these questions.

NOPE, I thought I had signed up for that deal in May 2006 . I have rung them a few times now and was told I wasnt on that deal despite that being the deal I was offered

My parents have no internet connection and they are with Primus. Does Primus offer a free dial up service? My Dad needs to get on the net what way would be best for him?
  • I've had no internet access for 3 days now. Everytime I call, they explain that it will be back again in a few hours. I'm hoping it will be back by the weekend. Overall they have been reasonable but I never receive any information on planned downtime.
