I eventually managed to get £45 credited to my account after sending a letter and a few phone calls to customer services. I have missed out on the final £15, as I never made any calls on the account. I checked with them about the 3 months free and it turns out that this has a different T&C. Basically you just have to fulfill the 12 months contract and then they credit you at the end of the 12 months with 3 months worth of payments. I was informed that the original letter did state that there are terms and conditions and if I wanted a copy, that I should have asked for them! Overall the service has been great and getting the moneyback plus the 3 months is very good value. It's really good to have full unlimited usage and no fair usage policy.

Not i know of, most of us, use Primus due to the pricing and the fact the broadband (so far) has been a unlimited, unmetered service.

Just to let you all know, I got my 12th month bill credited with ~15 quid and then my 13th month bill credited with £50.97 inc VAT (3 months?) automatically. Didnt even have to phone them.

Time to start shopping around for something cheaper now my 15months are nearly up. Any suggestions?

My 15 months are nearly up and phoned them to ask if they had any retention offers as I have been happy with the service. They offered BB up to 8 Mb unlimited, free evening & week-end UK calls, line rental included - for £22.99 per month. If you take off the £10.50 BT line rental this works ot at £12.50 per month for the BB &phone calls. I think it's quite a good deal, especially with the horror stories one hears about Tiscali, Talk=Talk & Sky service.

    Hi,
Due to these posts and a work colleague happily 11 months in to a contract with them, I've gone with Primus for 2MB BB and phone calls (though not line rental). Thanks all for your comments.
According to Primus' helpdesk, BT are now investigating a problem on the line which will delay it starting.

However, I can't see anything in the T&C about rebates and I have asked about the price quoted being the price charged per month, and 2 Primus people have told me (John & Shaun) that it is £16.99 pm and the earlier scheme has finished. So, are the rebates still happening, and I need to make x number of calls per month?? Or has that earlier scheme really finished? (Shaun also said the price was now £14 pm)

Also, until I get a wireless router sorted, are there any default settings on the device provided that I should change immediately for security? (The kit hasn't yet arrived).

Many thanks for any info, HJ
  • Nearly at the end of my 12 months, the broadband was activated at the end of August, but i wasn't billed for this till October, due to the way Primus bills work, i was using Primus for calls before adding broadband.

I have been quite happy with the overall service, the unmetered service has been great, the only let down i have had was the problems in getting the £15 cashback every 3 months, that Primus decided to attach conditions to getting it, something the sales department failed to mention, even when asked!

Will have to phone Primus, to find out when the 12 month cashback will be applied, if it will be the bill due at the end of September or October, after the arguments on the phone concerning the £15 cashbacks, i want to make sure that this £50 odd cashback is honoured correctly.

I think i may well stay with Primus, but there are a few things that i would like to find out, before making that choice, will the service stay Unlimited, and now the cashback offer is finished, what happens about the price i am paying?

The latter may not sound much, but the worth of the broadband service is £14.99, Primus took the customer from the FREE phone package to charge £2.99, quoting this was how the cashback would work, 1st i knew about the charging policy was when i saw my bill, i assumed the broadband was £17.98 with the phone package i was already on included, now after finding out how hard it was to get the £15 cashback, when i get the 3 months free added to my bill, should i phone up and enquire that i am placed back to the FREE evening and weekend calls that i was previously on, and only pay for the broadband at £14.99?

The price quoted in a post above about the package for £22.99 sounds good, but not so sure about moving line rental, and do Primus offer caller display?

How much get you get as your 3 months free?

After finding out the £2.99 for the phone calls, looks like the £53.97 quoted by the sales team last year will be porkies as well, since they were taking £17.98 x 3 as their figure, and after getting the 1st bill, that had the broadband and calls seperated by 2 figures, the sales team sold the package as just adding broadband, making it look like £17.98 for the broadband, hence the figure that the quoted at the time being over £50, after my last call to Primus concerning the £15 cashback, the lad i spoke to didn't know if the amount would be in one large lump sum, or applied monthly as a credit, let alone what the amount would actually be!

Apart from the grumble over the cashbacks and how they have been handled, from what i have been told by Primus themselves, most if not all of the sales department from last year no longer work for Primus, hopefully after completing the 12 month contract, and if i decide to stay with them, that the "new" sales team are fully on the ball no, new product excuses this time!) whatever they offer me, is fully upfront, and without ant T&C's that they want to add at a later date.

When was your broadband switched on by Primus, and when did you 1st get billed for it?

I was switched on at the end of August, but not billed until the bill at October, this was for 15 Sep-15 Oct, i am just trying to figure out what my 12 months actually is, as to myself, it is my switch on date, but to Primus it might be the 1st billing.
