Let me try and simplify things.

O2 are only going to charge for calls to 07744 numbers. If you have got inclusive cross network contract minutes or payg inclusive anytime anywhere minutes you can still use them to call 0844/0845/0870 intl dial through access numbers.

So therefore if the Intl Destinations you call via 07744 are also covered by 0844/0845/0870 numbers then you dont have a problem. Its only if they are not that you need to start worrying.

You also might find that suppliers start providing 0844/0870 access for destinations you can only reach via 07744 at the moment, if their is enough dosh in it for them. :D

I certainly hope there is plenty of dosh in it for them .... i only call mobile phones in nigeria with my inclusive xnet minutes and at the moment o7744.. are my only options .Otherwise orange and virgin here i come

Its an hard one to call, because their is no guarantee that at some stage Orange wont pull the plug as well, and theirs no guarantee that 07744 suppliers will continue to support calls to all the destinations they do now.If you can reach the destinations you call now via 0844/0870 i would stick with O2 for the time being.

Virgin Contracts also allow calls to 07744 numbers out of their inclusive x-net minutes.

Precicely, my predicament will be ending up at some point during the year with a orange and a 02 mobile contract that is of no use to me.AHH and the virgin if they pull the plug as well :D

Has anyone been able to confirm if you can get out of your contract?
    Has anyone done this already?

Well I called online customer support and they said that there is no notification of these charges for current customers and O2 will notify if there will be any charges.

Thats true old customers havent been notified yet (or did anybody receieved any letter/message)

I guess if that happens you can ask them to terminate contract.
    I hope I am right.

I had received revised terms and conditions with my latest bill. I have read through every line, but at no point does it state that charges are changing. If that is true, then if they start charging existing customer, then I have the right to a refund and cancel the contract?

If I was to sign up for a NEW contract with mobileshop would 07744 stop being free soon? If so when, please?

O2 will start charging 25p a minute to call 07744 numbers from 1/6/2006.

Always helps to read original post. ;)
    PF.
  • I am an original everyday 50 contract with Orange that allows calls to other Orange mobiles during your free inclusive minutes. Will I be charged to call 07744x numbers as I do not have xnet minutes?

Yes you will be charged you dont have x-net /any network inclusive minutes for the calls to come out of.(07744 is not an Orange Mobile Prefix).

Lets be clear about this calls to 07744 numbers are only allowed out of your x-net,or any network minutes.

Only O2.Orange, and Virgin Contracts with x-net minutes support calls to these numbers. If you call them from T-Mob,Voda,or Three you will be charged.

You can also call them from O2 payg inclusive/bolt on, any network minutes.Other payg suppliers will charge.

Both O2 Contracts and Payg cease to allow calls to these numbers out of your inclusive minutes from the 1/6/2006.They will then charge 25p a minute to call them.
