It does not matter what 0844 number you call out of your O2 inclusive minutes whether its a 1p up to a 5p one they all come out of your inclusive minutes, and their all charged the same outside of your inclusive minutes. So if you could allocate your intl destination an 0844 number from that site.(I indicated some destinations were dearer) then you would either save money or minutes as you would not be charged or start using your minutes until you got through.Where as if you were using a normal dial through 0844 number you start paying/using minutes as soon as you hit the annoucement .So if they are engaged out of range you have paid.So i am talking about saving money.
Another advantage is that you can Divert your O2 mobile to an 0844 one out of your inclusive minutes. So if your on Holiday or working in an area covered by their 0844 numbers you can divert your O2 mobile to a landline eg hotel and avoid expensive Intl roaming charges.
A friend goes to Spain a lot and while he,s there he diverts his O2 mobile to his 0844 number which piggy backs on his Spanish Apartment Landline this cost him nothing to recieve his O2 calls as it comes out of his inclusive O2 minutes.
Ok it does not work to every Intl Destination but it does not mean that people who call the numerous countries who do get an 0844 number allocated should not benefit from it.
(If its any help any Intl destination with a calling price of 5p a minute or less mentioned on the site is allocated an 0844 number.)So you can even call/divert to some Intl Mobiles using the Idea. EG Canada, China.
I was in France last week,, does this mean if I dialled a 0844 number while I was there I woudn't get charged??
I was charged for calling 901 my voicemail, so i guess I woud get charged for every number I dial. If this is true, then diverting to these number is not part of xnet minutes either.0 -
does it work on Orange?0

The post you were replying to was about pre-diverting incoming calls, which would be charged as a 0844 call from UK, from inclusive minutes if available.
If you do a lot of roaming, then look into using a different SIM.0 -

Its an hard one to call, because their is no guarantee that at some stage Orange wont pull the plug as well, and theirs no guarantee that 07744 suppliers will continue to support calls to all the destinations they do now.If you can reach the destinations you call now via 0844/0870 i would stick with O2 for the time being.
Virgin Contracts also allow calls to 07744 numbers out of their inclusive x-net minutes.PF.0 -
From reading this thread, it is my understanding that for O2 users, the loss of 07744 numbers being included in your x-net minutes should make no difference at all if the same destinations are available with 0844/0845/0870 as the call rate does not matter. If I was to call someone in the states for 10 minutes using O2 and telestunt or dialwaise then it would only cost me 10 minutes from my inclusive quota, the same as it would had I used an 07744 number. Is this correct?0

Let me try and simplify things.
O2 are only going to charge for calls to 07744 numbers. If you have got inclusive cross network contract minutes or payg inclusive anytime anywhere minutes you can still use them to call 0844/0845/0870 intl dial through access numbers.
So therefore if the Intl Destinations you call via 07744 are also covered by 0844/0845/0870 numbers then you dont have a problem. Its only if they are not that you need to start worrying.
You also might find that suppliers start providing 0844/0870 access for destinations you can only reach via 07744 at the moment, if their is enough dosh in it for them.0
