I have lots of free minutes so I have been experimenting and found these three;-

One for calling 0870 numbers from a mobile on free minutes.
    - 0844-

N.B. this one can be used either as 5p per min for 0870 OR mobile numbers from a landline or free with inclusive/free minutes on a mobile

Two for OZ/NZ numbers - Might well work for other countries too!

    - 0844 ************* also free minutes from an o2 mobile.

N.B. these two can also be used from a landline for 1p per minute to the same two countries, and maybe more.

I only checked OZ/NZ as thats where the kids live.

I also found a number for UK landline numbers at 1p per minute from landline to landline - 0844-****** Useful during the daytime if you are on BT.

I think 0844, 0845, 0870 are included in you x net minutes only if you are an online customer,, or you bought your contract straight from an o2 shop.

these number are charged if you bought your contract from a third party like cpw or e2save,, etc

On a BT landline calls to 0844 can vary from 0.5p to 5p a minute depending on charging band. When using them for Intl Calls Dial Through a min call charge of approx 5p applies, even if you dont get through,as you start paying when you hit suppliers recorded announcement.

0845 calls vary between 3 to 1p on BT depending on time of day. Talk Talk charge 4.5p a minute to call an 0845 number peak!!!

As has been pointed out before you can definitely call 0844/0845 numbers free out of your x-net minutes on O2 and O2 payg.

These people https://www.cheapercallrate.com/LowPricePhoneCalls will allocate you your own 0844 numbers FREE that you can Target direct to some Intl Destinations.EG Australia. (NOT all the numbers they allocate are 0844!!! depends on destination)

The advantage of this is that it saves you time, and as your dialling the destination direct you dont start paying until they answer. So you save money or minutes.

If you know anyone abroad they can get one put on home phone people can them ring them from 2p.

this is out of the subject.

anyway the site you quoted is too expensive. this is moneysaving site and the prefered site is niftylist.co.uk,, or moneysaving call checker https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/

    back to O2 :-)

From 1st June 2006, inclusive minutes cannot be used to call numbers with the 07744 and 07755 prefix. These calls will be charged at 25p per minute at all times.

See small print 11th condition Online Pay Monthly tariff information
Have an 02 phone with free cross network minutes. Tried to access the free minutes to ring an Australian mobile on Simplyfone access no. 07744 , but was told by voice prompt I could not be connected and was referred to their 15p a minute access code. Spoke to O2 who said they did not support the 07744 no. Looks like this method of using your free minutes to ring a mobile abroad has been blocked by O2.
