O2 would probably pay the same for 0870 and 0844 numbers as BT and other mobile and landline companies, but whereas BT charge for them at BT rates, ie 7.5p during the day for 0870, O2 would have to pay something like 6p per minute.
0844 numbers are between 1p-5p per minute at all times, but 0870 comes down to 4p per minute in the evenings, and 1.5p at weekends.
So, if you're trying to use the cheapest method of calling, to make sure O2 isn't too much out of pocket, remember that 0870 is always most expensive during the day, but in the evenings and weekends, depending on which 0844 number you have, 0870 may be cheapest.0 -
For those who got their O2 contracts through CPW, OSPS, E2SAVE call the switchboard on 0208 8965000 then ask for O2 carphonewarehouse and start the fight there. Better than paying for an 0845 or 0870 number....and then the window licker said to me...0

Or even better, call 08000 490049
Then you select the option for O2, without having to ask a switchboard operator to put a call through. It's just menu options that lead to the menu options of the 0870 number!!
It means my inclusive minutes can now be used for my just dial 0870 number, and other companies who just won't be contacted on anything other than 0870 instead!!0 -
Surely it does not matter what number you call them on 0208/0870/ or 0800 as their all normally included in o2 inclusive minutes.
From the O2 site.
"Inclusive call minutes can be used to call some non-geographical and special services numbers with the following prefixes: 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870. Once the inclusive minute allowance has been used up, calls to these numbers will be charged as calls to standard UK landlines at the prevailing tariff. Some exceptions may apply and calls to some numbers may be free of charge"0 -
Most people who have got Landline Minutes can call 0800/0808/0500 numbers out of those minutes by using Pre-Dials little known dial through access numbers

This is what you asked. I dont think Webkami response was rude.Clearly the thread is about O2 charging to call 07744 numbers.0 -

I have to agree with mobilegossip that the question rather than the answer was rude. Needless to say it is time wasted for others to read and respond.0
