There seems to be a lot of confusion over O2 and what is/is not considered part of their inclusive calls.
Myself, and my husband have the following:-
-O2 250 mins x-net contract (x1)
-O2 1000 off peak minutes (x2)
Can we still use the above contracts to dial 0844 numbers???
Many thanks0 -

Yes, both can be used to call 0844 numbers, and they are regarded as calls to landlines, meaning that at off peak times, you're better off using that phone, as you have far more minutes, and keep the 250 minutes for any calls during the day, and calls to other mobiles.0 -
Ok, if anyone is worried about using the o7744 number dont worry, a new service has been launched where you can dial a 0870 number and get free calls to anywhere in the world. 0870 is part of cross network mins for most packages on 02, here it is (enjoy!)0

It would not cover anywhere in the World!!! would it? It has limited destinations and some of them at limited times. Most of the destinations are already covered by 0844 numbers anyway which you can also call from your O2 minutes.
The calls are not strictly free anyway if you paid for the line rental including the minutes you are using to make them.0 -
I just received my notification in the post about the new charges for 07744 numbers.
Now that I've been officially notified, I might try and get out of the contract that has 2 months left to run, but I might have less of a leg to stand on, as I only get 25 minutes for x network, and 1000 for O2 and landline numbers. But it still remains, they have increased their charges to my disadvantage, and it is still a get out clause.0 -
If you've been using the 07744 number regularly, you'll have a leg to stand on - more than a few minutes per month will show that your charges under your usage pattern will increase significantly.0

Shiggaddi - did the notification come with your bill or a separate letter?0

I call the simplyfone number regularly, I called o2 asking them to cancel my contract, which is 18months ( 6months into it), 100min+150 text.
They have said that they will not cancel ,as they state this not a change in t&c's but simply a change where a third party has increased it charges and that o2 is not responsible for it.
Tried to argue saying that it was a change to T&C, and that others have managed to cancel contract's, but the lady would not budge.
Now what can i do? I took the contract specifically to call the simplyfone number.
And i have still not recieved any written or email confirming the changes.0
