Hmm, the 07744 numbers are not mentioned in this page of their T&C's:
http://www.o2.co.uk/terms/onlinepaymonthly/0,,600,00.html
... and yet they are on this page:
http://shop.o2.co.uk/shop/o2uk/jsp/tariffs/TariffSmallPrint.jsp?tariffProdId=consumer:Q3:05:O2:online:100:basic:simo:DB:mms
I am unsure as to why they're not keeping their T&C's consistent between different sections of the webpage.
Anyway, personally, my main contention is with the 3 months rollover being reduced to 1 month. That's a bigger disadvantage to me than introducing charges for 07744 numbers, just my tuppence....0 -

Also on an o2 - 200 plan when they offered double mins for the first three months, with upto 3 months rollover it works out at an average of 250 mins per month over the length of the contract.Nearly debt free

I have made some enquiries with O2 CS regarding the reduction of the rollover length, and existing users before the change will not be affected. Whatever rollover scheme you had at the start of your contract will apply as long as you remain on that tariff.
It's one of the times when I'm happy to be wrong about something0 -
Not got any info to add, but would really like to thank all who contributed to this thread, it has been so useful and, am ashamed to admit, as I have been with O2 for 10 months, I was not aware I could use 0870 or 0845 until I read this!! This will save me quite a sum each month as I have always used my landline which is with onetel for this as I thought it would be more expensive to use my mobile. Many thanks. There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0

Hi Everyone,
I have a online contact with o2 and received an email from them this evening.
In the email, its says that they`re gonna charged 25p per mins to any non-standard number such as 07744, 07755 as from the 1 JULY 2006 (01.07.06)
So i have called the online customer services and told them that i have taken this contact only becoz these non-standard numbers were includes in my x-net mins.
The guys ( who was friendly) told me that i have got a ground to cancel my contact but i have to talk to the disconnection dept first. But unfortunatley it is already closed.
I will keep the forum inform after i call them tomorrow. I hope that i will be able to cancel the contact and make some savings.
So lets HoPe FoR tHe BeSt.0 -
And looks like these are the latest terms for the offline plans:
http://www.o2.co.uk/terms/o2callingplan
However, on the rollover, as I said in my previous post, if it was 3 months when you signed up, it remains so.0 -
I received the same email as heat this evening, however, since I only ever use it to ring my brother in America, I have been able to register his number with an 0844 number (I knew nothing about these until I came upon this thread) and so now I will be able to ring him for free after 1st July too. Better than that, my mum and dad and my other brother will be able to ring him for 2p a minute. Result!0

From the O2 Online Team, 12 May 2006
O2 Service Message – The cost of calls to 07744 and 07755 numbers is changing
Dear O2 Online Customer,
From 1 July 2006 there will be a small change to the conditions of your mobile service. If you call a non-standard rate number that begins with 07744 or 07755 from your O2 mobile, it will no longer be included in your monthly minute allowance. Instead, it will always be charged at a flat rate of 25p a minute (inc. VAT).
Hopefully that explains everything, but if you would like more information, please go to o2.co.uk/terms/onlinepaymonthly
Best regards,
Andrew Day
