Don't be too scared or anxious, I was and just happened to get lucky. If you think the person you're talking to isn't going to budge or is a bit brash with you, just say "Ok thanks for your help" and hang up. Then ring back once you've had a wee cup of tea or something and try until you get a nice person. (Wish I'd taken the guy I spoke to's name now)0 -
Took 3 tries to actually get through to disconnections, but once I got through to them it was fairly straight forward. I explained that the 300% increase on minimum call charges for ans phone and 08 numbers was unacceptable and the person I spoke to agreed. Should receive my PAC sometime next week0

i do phone 08 numbers and use my voice mail, so i guess i could cancel, but i quite like orange, is it possible to cancel the contract but just stay on without been bound by the contract, and maybe even get an upgrade when i see a phone i like?0

I only signed up about 3 weeks ago, 1200 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb data for £35 a month, got a Nokia N97 from Phones4u. I traded a phone in and paid £25 for the handset (would be £75 without a trade in). I'm thinking of trying this so I can keep the phone then go onto O2 Simplicity 12month and get £100 Quidco which runs out on the 4th August.
What do you think my chances are considering it's such a new contract? I very much doubt I'd go over my call allowance but as I'm such a new customer there is no way they could say otherwise.0 -
I am currently in month 3 of a 2 year contract on Dolphin 35. I rang Orange yesterday to cancel due to the changes and at first was told that Orange could not cancel as they are in line with OFCOM's requirements? I explained that I'd been to the CAB and was within my rights to cancel as per their T&Cs. The lady didn't want to budge on her arguement so I ended the call. 30 minutes later I rang back and got somebody alot more helpful and within 2 minutes she cancelled the contract for me and they are even sending me my PAC code out. I didn't get asked to send the phone back either.
I just hope I don't get a huge bill charging me for the remainder of the contract!0 -
Is this going to apply to everyone or is the texting staggered? I haven't received a text from them yet.0

Hi everyone,
I spoke to Orange yesterday to request a PAC and cancel contract. The first time I called through the lady said I couldn't cancel as I wasn't using very many minutes so it wasn't effecting me. I explained that it was an excessive increase in the minimum call charges from 5p to 14.7p is almost 300%.
She then said I could cancel but I would have to give back the phone because it was subsidised. I explained to her that in the t&c's it states the phone isn't part of the contract so I didn't have to send it back. She then insisted that I send the phone back otherwise I couldn't cancel without penalty.
I decided that it wasn't worth arguing with her and asked for her name and extension number then ended the call.
I called up again straight afterwards and spoke to someone else who insisted I couldn't cancel without writing in and I would be charged to the end of the contract. I explained that I could cancel without penalty due to the increase in minimum call charges for 14/09/09 and that I'd spoken to Citizen's Advice who confirmed this was the case.
After 8 minutes on hold I was told that I would get my PAC in the post and my account would be credited for the 'buy out' charges on my contract. It really depends on who you get, no point in getting angry as it doesn't help. If you find yourself getting no where after stating the facts then just call back and speak to someone else.
Good Luck!

So...i'm in about month 3 of a 24 mnth contract, that for one i didnt know was for 24 months when i upgraded..i've already had a moan today that my rubbish 5800 keeps loosing time..then i got the text!! 1 i cant read the link without going on orange web via orange internet, so thats gonna charge me, i only ever access the web via Wifi.
So ...am i right I can call up and cancel as per the T&C, is it 08 numbers and access to the voicemail ? If so, i quiet often call 08 numbers and have my phone off all day so get voicemails most days i listen to...so in effect my costs will rise....am i right ?
Hope so as then i can get rid of this rubbish phone and stupid 24 month contract:beer::T :TThanks to everyone on here for the help!!0
