  • Matt, that sounds like a good deal. Why not try to get your contract length reduced as well. If not then leave, there's plenty of similar deals around

    I  this website :j:j:j

I was unaware of these price changes until I saw this thread, despite OH being on Orange and getting the text message (he didn't pay any attention to it and just deleted it ) he hates his phone cant get network coverage at work or downstairs in our house.

So one quick phone call to orange his phone will be cancelled as of tomorrow (he only had to give 30 days notice if he requested his PAC) and he has signed up to voda for 600 mins/unlimited text/free internet for 18 months with a free N85 and a free £50 voucher for lastminute.com, even better as I sorted out this via Quidco I get £90 cashback ( :shhh: but we dont tell him that)

Some people might remember my post quite a few pages ago where I ended up having a long discussion with a manager who claimed I wasnt eligible and wouldnt be affected by the changes.

Well I got "the" text about the prices changes on sat, called them yesterday eve and got through to an arsy sod of a man who claimed the price change was only for the first min you went over, had to correct him on that and stuck to my guns, quoted him section 4.3 of the contract and lo behold my pac code is on its way to me in the post!

I will still be sending a letter to the head office to complain about the way I was treated by the previous people I called, and the fact that the manager lied to me about my previous bills

Wouldn't even bother with the letter, I never got any response to my one!

Just noticed Orange have changed their pay monthly guide to include a clause about the price increase from the 14th Sept. Still no clause about the international call charges changing though. They have dated the guide July 09 v29. Have a look on the orange website for the pay monthly guide.

However I still have a copy of the pay monthly guide that I signed up to in Mid July before all of these changes came to light. Still available if you type in google:

    PAYM_PriceGuide20090701.pdf

What do you reckon to getting out of the contract? Will they try the "Well the July terms included the changes" when clearly they didn't.

Tell me on what page it states about the increase. I downloaded both the Jun and the July PAYM guides the other day. I want to see if it is in there.

Is there something illegal about what Orange are doing, by bringing out a new guide for last month with the changes?

Is there something illegal with them telling me/us that the changes were in the June T&C's, when they were not?

    Its on page 15.

Standard call charges for animal plans
You get loads of minutes and texts in your package, but if you use these up,
    the following charges apply.
All calls outside your call allowance are subject to a minimum call charge of 5p**.

** From 14th September the minimum
    call charge will be 15p.
  • Just had another look at the new Price Guide and it does not seem to mention the changes that are happening for International call charges and also mobile internet.

I downloaded a few bytes the other day by mistake and this cost me 7p, I presume with the pricing this would cost me 58.7p.

I can't believe a company as large as Orange is trying to change the pricing guide retrospectively and to get away with it.

Its not just if you go over your mins. Any calls outside of your bundle ie. 0800/0500 etc will attract a minimum of 15p. CS keep telling people "It won't affect you as you have never gone outside your mins" This makes no odds, you may go over in the future and any calls outside of your bundle will also attract this minimum charge.

It seems that Orange have realised the impact of the the changes to T&C and desperately trying to cover up the gaps in policy, even by retrospectively changing T&C.

Is there something different then about the premier team? They will not agree with me that I am affected, or is it cos i have a touch HD and they will be charged by mobiles.co.uk for it?

Touch HD here too an only on a 12month contract so thats certainly not it.
The first person I spoke to did say that I couldnt cancel, just try billing instead. Dont tell them your cancelling just ask if you will be affected.
Its not required but I have auto voice record installed on my HD which came in a handy for verification and my own proof.

For some strange reason you cannot Port your number within the same provider. For example I received my PAC code from ORANGE today and I cannot take out a NEW contract with them and keep my number, however......

I can Port my phone number, for free to ANY pay as you go SIM card. All you need to do is get a free SIM card from ANY OTHER provider and port your number to this SIM. Then, once this is done -takes a few days, ask for the PAC code from your new provider. Take this PAC code and take it back to Orange. They will port your number back onto their network. Voila. Bit of a hassle and takes a week or so, but you get to keep your phone number on the network you are on now.

Fortunately thats not true of Orange, I was on Orange PAYG before taking out a contract with them and it was very simple to do.
My PAYG number was transfered to my new contract within a couple of hours, and the remaining credit was credited to my pay monthly account.
    Couldnt have been simpler.
