Orange Price changes ?

You are confusing the value with what you got the item for. You may well have got the phone free, but its actual value (i.e. its rrp, or cost new) is pretty obviously quite considerably higher0

So do you get to keep the phones if you cancel your contracts if you got the phone free??:beer:0

Just spoke to orange, an they said a 2nd text will be doing the rounds at the end of august explaining that if you cancel the company you bought the phone off can legally claw back the money for the handset under rule 3.1.1, he said something about the handset being subsidised by the company. He said you can cancel but will have to return the handset.0

Regarding June contracts, my wife renewed her contact on June 10th 2009 and today received the text - haven't rung up to cancel yet, but a good sign for those who signed up after 31st May.0

Did you get the text?
Why would it not affect you?
It's about price of calls. Nothing to do with music download. I suppose you still call??0 -
Hello all,
may I join in..?
I am 10 months into an 18 month contract with ORANGE and mobiles.co.uk.
I paid for my phone (£80) and got a free gift ( playstation) when I took out the contract (10 months ago).
Where do I stand? I ask this mainly to the Mobiles.co.uk rep. Can you tell me in plain English what Mobiles.co.uk expects of me if I cancel my orange contract?
Thanks to anyone with any insight into all this mess.

Hi,
As per the T&Cs, cancelling your contract within the minimum term is not possible with a discounted handset and/or free gift.
If your contract is cancelled. liability for the full cost of the handset and free gift falls on you. We have been to court in this exact situation numerous times (when customers are disconnected) and haven't lost yet - hence my advice to read our T&Cs again and understand your situation.
Like I said, I'm discussing this with Orange and hope to have a definitive answer soon but the situation currently is exactly as described; you have agreed to fulfil the minimum term (12, 18 or 24 months) and you have also agreed if you do not you will pay for the handset and free gift. This is the basis of your agreement with Mobiles and is entirely unrelated to your airtime agreement.
I agree, you can cancel with Orange, but you have agreed not to because you got a £300 handset and a £200 games console/laptop/line rental discount FREE.
The changes to Orange's pricing are hardly substantial - you'd have to use all your minutes in a month and then make 8 phones calls of less than a minute to even have your bill change by £1.“Official Company Representative

300% is substantial.
Load of people go out of their minutes. Especially because contract are so long and life situations change over such a long period of time.
Fortunately I have contract with Orange direct. They always were pricier, but now you cannot even get internet for your phone from them as easily and cheaply as from other suppliers.
However I can guarantee that you are not my next port of call...0 -

You will be entitled to the cost of the handset and i have been told by orange that more than likely they are going to write it into cancellations that you have to pay for the handset or return it, but the FREE gift is up for argument as it is a FREE gift.0 -

Completely irrelevant, they've changed outside of our current T&C's0
