I requested my PAC on Thursday (I think lol), and it came in the post this morning. It says there's a great deal at Orange for me, with a number to call for more info.

I called the number (I actually wanted to double check that I wouldn't be charged a termination fee) and straight away I was offered £10 off my bill + an extra 200 minutes a month for the rest of the contract (I'm in month 8 of 24). So now I'm getting 600 mins and unlimited texts for about £9.57. Plus I still get my Orange Wednesdays and Magic Numbers.

It seems too good to be true but the notes were put on my account whilst I was still on the phone, and I have a name and extension number incase I have any problems.

The number I called btw is 0800 0790 272. Chose the "Thinking of disconnecting or moving your number to another network" option.

I just spoke to Orange and got it cancelled no worries. They tried to offer me 5 pounds a month off my bill but as I rarely use my phone I just said to cancel it fully. Nice and easy to give them credit and they've said definitely no further charges. Nice one, thanks all for the info on here!!

OK, I've made the call and asked to cancel my contract and get a PAC number, the girl on the other end of the phone was lovely, checked my account and said that I was in the right category so she could do it no problem. She asked if there was anyway they could keep my business....... To which I replied more minutes, money off, unlimited internet and a shiny new phone.........she came back with the following:

I was getting and still do get unlimited land line calls and calls to my magic numbers
    I was paying £35/mth - Now paying £25/mth
    I was getting 1200 x net mins - Now getting 2400 x net mins
Didn't have internet from handset for free, now do unlimited
I was getting 500 texts and still do
I was getting free broadband at home and still do

I'm a very happy chap, they wouldn't budge on a handset for me without me actually going down the route of getting the PAC code and then haggling, but to be honest, I think I've got one heck of a deal and I couldn't really give a stuff about the handset, money and minutes and as little hassle as possible are what are important for me.

I'd like to thank everyone on here for your counsel, even those who thought I was an Orange double agent.... ;-)

Good luck with the negociating and switching, I look forward to reading what deals everyone manages to get.

    Best wishes

So they offered you a phone to renew your contract, even though you've canceled early?

    its true
to port your number over they have to keep the account active

best idea is to drop down to payg and then port it over
then i think you will get a instant cancellation and can still port it over when your ready

How does this work? When I rang up, I asked them to drop me down to payg and keep my old number. they've said it'll take up to 30 days, so what do I need to do to get it instant? I'm confused!!

i thought it was instant to get it dropped to payg or cancel completly, well 24 hours max
i think it depends on the person you get

i have decided to get mine disconnected completly and see if its instant
only a few days until text day :)

I'm in my last 3 months anyways so I'd have gotten a new phone either way but just think its lame for compared to what they're offering some ppl..

Please let me assure everyone, I'm in no way affiliated with Orange. I merely want the best deal I can get and think that I already have a pretty good deal, which has been negociated with retentions last december. I'd love to cancel, play hard ball with retentions, get a new phone, Nokia 6700 or Blackberry Curve 8900, reduction in my £34 ish per month and not affect my free broadband in any way.

Do the panel think this is do'able?

Apologies for my poor grammar and lack of paragraphs in previous postings ;-) Must try harder.....

    Cheers

    Tim

And im pretty sure anyone who cant spell "negotiated" correctly, Orange would want to be affiliated with:rotfl:
