i phoned 3 times tonight to try and cancel
1st guy was rude and told me with out the text i was not affected no matter how much i told him
2nd and 3rd guys told me pretty much identical scripts that because so many people are phoning up there is now a text box on there system and they need to enter a code that comes with the text before they can disconnect
only difference is the 2nd guy told me i should get the text by the end of august and just to phone them then and if i didnt get 1 i just had to accept the increase.
the 3rd guy was more helpful and told me that my contract WOULD be affected and that i can cancel and keep my phone but only when i get the text and if i dont get a text orange would be breaking the law and i could cancel anyway.
i will give it a week or so and if no text i will go ape at themThere is a Money Saving Expert quidclan, next time your on quidco have a look for it0 -
I tried to cancel my Orange contract, the guy I spoke to was the most unhelpful person ever!!!!
He started off by saying that the changes wouldn't affect me because I don't regularly go over my minutes...
Then he said I couldn't cancel becuase I don't use mobile internet?!?!?...
Then he said I had to wait until September to cancel my contract (but only if the changes affected me)...
and then I got cut off.
I was not happy. I can't be bothered calling them again and going through the whole argument with them again, so I've sent a letter and an email to them. Although, I don't know how long that will take....This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Be persistent. I called for a second time after my first call went nowhere.
Remember that you are within your rights to cancel based upon these changes.

Hi there,
Just canceled my contract, after recieving the text so not a problem in that department....
HOWEVER...
I will not at all be charged for my termination on the 20th of August will I (Remainder of the contract/any sort of fee)? That is all, finished job done, I can sign up elsewhere now?
Much appreciated.

Just wondering if this would apply to me.
I took my contract out on the 20th June, through mobiles.co.uk (part of CPW).
Currently paying £30 for dolphin 40. There's no chance of me going over my minutes (1200) as it is, but when I go back to uni in september, my mobile will become my main phone as the plan is not to use a landline (to save money), so would be using it more, and would have to use it for 08 numbers. I also will probably end up going over the 500Mb data allowance most months. Wouldn't mind the chance to jump over to a sim only deal for a little bit less.
Cheers.
edit - just looked at the T&C's on the mobiles.co.uk site, and they say if I cancel the contract within 9 months for any reason then I have to either return the phone, or pay the entire cost of the phone. Oh well, was worth a look.0 -
I was told my contract will be cancelled after 24 hours (after 5 or 6 calls and finally receiving the text) The woman wasnt very convincing thouh. I wasnt allowed my pac code either. is this allowed?Nice to Save. To save it's ____0

Ok.... so i phoned up 1st time round and the woman asked me about the txt message which i replied "Yes" too and only took matter minutes to cancel contract.
I phoned up different department and asked when my cancelation was due and they took there time to no what i was going on about and he said the same date which woman said which is good. This time next month.
I then asked about my PAC code and he phoned the department up and got back to me to say i need to phone them 3 or 4 days before my contract ends next month to recieve my PAC code..... Does this sound right? I thought you get it straight away?
Thanks, Bailz0 -
