I called earlier, spoke to a really nice guy in Darlington, he cancelled my contract straight away no problems, said If I change my mind then my contract will continue if I dont use the PUK code. He said they getting loads of calls about this.
I didn't get given a PUK code, but to be honest, I didn't ask for it as I was going to another network and didn't mind a new number ....
Should I ring up to confirm the termination tomorrow, and ask for a PUK code and use it just incase then?
Also, because I recieved the text etc, I won't have to pay a termination fee at all will I ? (/Buyout) ?
Cheers0 -
no u wont pay the termination fee, i said to guy just to confirm theres no fee & he said no but if there was to call back & theyd sort it out. I didnt even have to ask for the pac code the guy said it would be sent to me. Think ur best bet is just ask them to transfer it to PAYG.0

Ok.... so i phoned up 1st time round and the woman asked me about the txt message which i replied "Yes" too and only took matter minutes to cancel contract.
I phoned up different department and asked when my cancelation was due and they took there time to no what i was going on about and he said the same date which woman said which is good. This time next month.
I then asked about my PAC code and he phoned the department up and got back to me to say i need to phone them 3 or 4 days before my contract ends next month to recieve my PAC code..... Does this sound right? I thought you get it straight away?
Thanks, Bailz
Any help? The Woman who cancelled my contract said was sending out PAC code but then i phone back to hear different!?0 -
I was told that the PUK/PAC (which is it?) would be sent out in the post within 3 days0

Yeay! I managed to cancel on my second attempt
The guy was really helpful and had obviously dealt with a thousand other people all wanting to cancel.
I was told that I had to give 30 days notice, so I would still be billed for this period but that my contract would end as soon as I used my PAC code (which is on its way to me).
I'm happy with that. I'd tried to cancel my contract last month because it was costing me waay too much money and was told it would cost me £350!!! Thanks to Orange for putting their prices up, I have now cancelled for freeJob's a good un :rotfl:

You don't need to receive a text from them to cancel it would seem.
From what we can tell, the changes in charges are for all pay monthly contracts that commenced sometime after the end of May. A text message has been sent to some (but seemingly not all) customers informing them of the changes. Some customers are being told that if they haven’t received the text then either a) they can’t cancel, or b) they aren’t eligible to cancel, or c) they will have to wait until they receive a text.
Let’s take a quick look at two points in the contract:4.3 In such cases [of wishing to terminate your contract] you would need to give us at least 14 days written notice prior to your Billing Date (and within one month of us telling you about the changes).16.1 We regard you as having been given any information if it is either:What this means is that if changes are been made that affect your contract, then you don’t need to receive a text - an operator communicating the changes directly over the phone is sufficient.
a) included in a mailing addressed to you
b) by voicemail, email text or other form of electronic message sent by us to your Device
c) communicated directly by any means.
