Is it perhaps a part bill? You need to give 30 days notice so perhaps that 30 days was part of your last bill and this is the balance? Best to phone them up and ask them to explain it. They aren't allowed to charge you for porting your number.

Hello again!! I thought it was just for my bill but it says 'port charge' or something similar and it's an adjustment. I'll give them a call and find out though, I didn't think they were allowed to do that!!

This comment insinuates that those of us who have experienced VERY poor customer service from Orange brought it on ourselves!!!
I am always polite until some jumped up little !!!!!! starts giving me atitude. and if it was as simple as you are trying to make it sound then wouldn't everyone who called to cancel have been able to do so?

Absolutely no insinuation intended whatsoever and on reflection I agree that I could have worded my response a little better, I meant that I believe as a result of me habitually taking a customer service reps name and employee number / extension at the very outset I receive better customer service... Makes them very aware that I could cause trouble for them.

I would suggest that in all dealings with any call centres to confirm the customer service reps name straight away and either their extension or employee number and to summarise what has been agreed at the end of the call, including their name and extension / employee number again.

I know many have done this sort of thing and I really don't intend to be patronising here.

I have never, in over 11 years of being an Orange customer, experienced the kind of dreadful customer service that you and others have detailed on this thread. If I had, I would have been as angry as you (and others) rightly are and I would take the matter further.

Now Elaine at Wickes Direct is another story!
  • Received my PAC code last wed and have today successfully ported to Vodafone PAYG. Ive been looking at the various handsets and deals from all networks, but the one I fancy is back with Orange HTC Hero 18mth 1200min unlim txt magic number, unlim internet 17.50(half price by redemption for 6mth) then £35 pm via mobile express plus £40 cashback via quidco.

    Will Orange take me back?
    How long should I wait?
Can I port my number back at anytime?

    Thanks.

Well sadly I've got no fight left in me.
Managed to get my disconnection cost halved due to the amount of arguing I've done.

Pac arrived 30minutes ago and I'm off in 10minutes to get a new contract elsewhere.
It's just cost me £45 to do it.

Good bye Orange. I won't miss you!

  • I have had a PAC code from Orange sitting in my drawer for two weeks. If i use it will they charge me for disconnecting? Seeing as they arent changing the tariffs anymore.
  • Can you still cancel contract now, or are we stuck with it, now they have cancelled changes
