Just spoken to their terminations dept. again. Told that a PAC number has been issued & en-route to me via post - its when I use the number to port my mobile number that it disconnects my Orange phone. Just waiting on that letter from Orange now!

and were they polite on the phone? no denial of telephone call or anything? am trying to pluck up the courage to call them myself.....

At the moment I think your only option would be to buy out your contract. Phones 4 u may offer you a deal and give you some cash to cover this expense. Worth asking if you really want out

''I take point with the emboldened sentence.....you being denied over the phone does not constitute removal of your rights. If you wanted to cancel you just had to give 14 days notice in WRITING. So therefore if that was done before this U-Turn it would have been processed. They can refuse you over the phone as per T&C's.....''

Does this mean that as I sent a letter by recorded delivery on Monday to arrive on Tuesday that they still have to accept my cancellation?

Just got a call back from Paul.
He had the call centre on the line holding for me.
    Nice geordie lass.
I'll just check your account she says please hold.
2 minutes later she comes back on asking of I wanted to disconnect straight away. Yes please!!!!!!!!!
No problem sir. Your PAC code will be sent out and you should receive it in 3-5 working days.

    HALLELUJAH!!!

The moral of the story is. Just keep trying. You will EVENTUALLY get someone who will help.
Don't be put off if they say your not eligable. Everyone who has an orange contract is. You just haven't gone over your minutes or used 08 numbers.
If you haven't received a text, that doesn't matter either. They have still changed your contract.

    So annoyed.
The "nice Geordie lass" did absolutely nothing. Didn't update my notes even..
Complaint is now in with OfCom after arguing with some muppet called Darren Gray at oranges higher complaints department who was basically calling me a liar.

    How gutted am I!!

They keep offering better phones and better deals. Do they really think I would continue my contract after being treated in this manner??
  • Going on what a few people on here are saying, if you have requested your PAC and they are meant to be posting it out, when you call up to enquire they are denying all knowledge!!!
hope that doesn't happen for you

They were very polite indeed (probably helped that I was). They had notes on their system of my call on 6 August, said that the PAC was sent out on 6 August and apologised for me having not received it. They then proceeded to send me a text with my PAC code!

Thumbs up to Orange for that one! Now what shall I do contract wise???

    Hi all,

I'm in a bit of a muddle now and I'm not sure what to do.

I originally requested PAC's for my two Orange accounts about 2 weeks ago now and haven't got around to using them yet because I'm just waiting on a SIM to arrive from another network. The problem is now that I've signed up to another lengthy contract, Orange have turned around and told me that I now can't go ahead and cancel my existing contracts without paying the outstanding balance in full. They are basically doing a complete U-Turn on me and I'm now lumbered with an additional phone contract.

I'm absolutely furious. Despite their press release I was told that their legal department had "since updated their stand on things" and was now no longer willing to let people who were previously allowed to cancel continue doing so.

Do I have any rights here? Does anyone know what the latest stance is from Orange regarding people who have PAC's? I'm utterly lost and confused, and extremely annoyed with them.

    James.

I rung up Orange earlier on today, about an hour ago, and was told there not going to change their prices after all.

So I asked where my text message about that was, and they said it would be following shortly

    Anyone else find this?

Well done longster, that's great news, but if you read the post from JK, not everyone has been treated so well.
Bet your minds at peace now
