Orange Price changes ?

I suggest to the people to cancel their contract as:
1: They have changed the T&C - Not if they withdraw the change.
2: You have only 30 days to cancel from notice of changes - According to Orange these changes were going to be enacted on 14 September 2009, this means you've had more than 30 days notice from them stating the change won't go ahead. The contract actually states you've got to give 14 days written notice.
3: Don't take their words on here, there's no official statement from them. - There are several posts on here from an Orange member of staff registered with MSE. Presumably they had to prove they were from Orange before MSE allowed them to post, this staff member provided a copy of Orange's press statement.
4: I believe you are entitle to cancel even if they withdraw the changes - On what do you base this belief? Your contract gave you the right to cancel only if they made changes, if they provide you with notice that they aren't going to make these changes then you haven't got a contractural basis for free cancellation

I just took a contract with ORANGE yesterday after getting my new phone, so I agreed to the new prices in September, they have now retracted these so surely I am within my right to cancel as the terms i have now been put on are not the same as the original ones
I dont think theirs a law to protect someone from paying less then they agreed to :rotfl:0 -
I phoned yesterday lunchtime and successfully cancelled my contract and had my PAC code sent out. I'm going to collect my new phone this afternoon but don't want to have two contracts running at the same time if orange haven't cancelled me.
Does anyone know of a quick way (ie one that doesn't involve calling 150 again) to check if my cancellation still stands?
Thanks0 -

Go to your online account, it should allow you to upgrade as they've changed the contract dates or applied credit to cover the contract.0 -
Just had an email from the guys over at BitterWallet in terms of the question people have been talking about - i.e. does this "we wont change our prices" message count as there has not been any official word from orange - either text or on their site.
Apparently there is going to be a statement posted on the Orange website by tomorrow to confirm no price changes.
Think that pretty much puts the final nail in the coffin on people getting away from Orange (me included :-( )0 -
Hi all,
Just to clarify once again, due to feedback from our customers we are no longer going ahead with the proposed price changes.
If you have already requested a PAC code, you will still get it if we have agreed to it.
Unfortunatley I can't comment on individual cases, but if you have any more questions or want to take any matters further please contact our Customer Services dept.
Here is a copy of the statement our Press Office have issued to media:
"Orange recently decided to make changes to contract customers' call charges for out-of-bundle minimum call rate, international calls from the UK and pay-as-you consume data browsing.
However in listening to our customers it became clear that some of them found the messages sent to announce these changes confusing about who would be affected and how. This is obviously not our intention and therefore we have decided not to go ahead with the proposed changes.
It is normal practice for businesses to make pricing changes, and whilst we clearly cannot rule out any future changes we know that transparency and consistency in our policies is extremely important to our customers. Orange apologises to those customers who found the messages unclear and any subsequent misunderstanding this has caused. We will be reviewing all policies and procedures for price changes to make sure that they are clearer in future.
Orange always strives to deliver the best communications and we hope that these steps will overcome any confusion and frustration that our customers felt."“Official Company Representative
