3 Mobile Broadband

Well after 1 week, two 45 mins phone calls, 2 trips to two different shops, an email stating problems and requesting a call after 8pm, two missed calls(as they rang before 8) I finally got the the bottom of the problem.
There is maintainance on the server near my house and the service will be unavailable till 21st AUGUST.
What a poor service - not a text or phone to explain.
They offered to suspend account and give me £5 credit for my trouble._____________________________________________

That is so annoying. At least your mind is at rest now, and perhaps this post will benefit other people with a similar problem.
Are you able to take your PC out and use the dongle somewhere else?Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Hi, I have not tried it out anywhere else. In theory it should work
The dongle worked last night, even though they said the maintenance will last till end of the month. Just goes to show they have no idea._____________________________________________

3 mobile broadband is a bit bizarre for me, I get poor 3G signal near my house and only get it if I basically stick my modem high up and use the extension cable to get to my laptop. Otherwise it only gets GPRS.
But last week they stopped my modem from being able to get the slow GPRS/EDGE service, they said that mobile broadband 'only works in 3G areas' and so my modem will only connect in a 3G area. Which is incredibly irritating, but I suppose it's because 3 don't run a 2G network and would have to pay roaming charges to their provider.
I am probably going to switch to T-Mobile or O2 because of this, having slow access is better than no access and 3 didn't even have the common courtesey to inform me in advance. Which is a shame, because I was generally fairly happy with the service, I knew 3G near my house was poor, but I didn't buy it to use at home! Certainly the price was right, but oh well.0 -

3 has been really slow for me too, I switched to Voda and it's much better. I usaully get 1.5Mb+ speeds which is ok for mobile broadband.0

3 used to be awful here in central Edinburgh, with frequent connection problems and slowdowns.
It's got a lot better, though, and I usually get around 1MB speed.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Ok, I have seen on ebay listings like you can get free mobile broadband from 3 etc...
Browsing these boards I bought a 3 usb dongle for £4.95 and it came today, it has got a payg sim card with it, so basically I just want to know how you get the free mobile broadband now!!
Does anybody know what I am talking about, or how you do it???0 -
You don't. You have to load the PAYG card with credit the same as you would for calls. Then you can use the internet.
There's no free mobile BB.0 -
Though you might be very lucky and find there is stil some credit on it...
Top ups cost from £10 (for 1GB) and last 30 days.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
