I know what you mean Millwalll. The amount of times I've seen idiots (even when on lessons) driving on the road and I fail for silly things - like being so nervous my left leg shakes when using the clutch.

I've seen - someone driving up a pavement  just coz a bus had broken down, and someone driving up the wrong side of the road just coz he lived at the end. Seriously It makes me wonder why I want to drive sometimes.

Not to mention the idiots who overtake just because you are obviously a learner.

Hi I started this thread ages ago,and have enjoyed reading the replies. It's been helpful towards doing my test.Did my first practical on 19th July, and failed with 14 minors and two serious! the serious were 1.) after doing a perfect reverse around a corner, the examiner said thankyou please drive on,and I only checked my rear view mirror and went.I should of turned around and checked blindspot.
2.)Examiner said go sraight on coming up to a staggered junction, there were two lanes and I was in the one to goleft,so checked r.v.mirror and changed lanes at the same time.I should of checked blindspot and then done manouvre when I was sure it was clear.
So it was close, and I guess if I'd just concerntrated a bit harder ,I think I could of passed! It was mid day on the hottest day this year though!(excuses, excuses).
I have another booked for the 11th of Aug,so fingers crossed.
The summer holidays was my target,as have three kids to traipse about on buses, and we could get around so easily if I pass.
I've been reading on this site ,which I've also found helpful.

Thought I would update this thread a bit as -

I passed my driving test last thursday....!!!! So chuffed. only 7 minors woohoo......

(only thing is I've just got the car back yesterday as It broke down on Saturday morning - Talk about bad luck eh?)

Not driven much on my own coz of car not working but the couple of small journeys I've made so far have been okay. DH has said he needs to get me on motorway (eek)! Not sure if I will enjoy that.

PS forgot to say that it was my 4th attempt............

I failed for going too slow it was a national speed limit area but I didnt realise and was doing 40

Examiner told me going too slow is just as dangerous as going too fast what a load of bs!
Anyways I passed on my third attempt
  • well done claire23.
i failed the first time as i ddint go at the right time on a blind cross roads or summat like that.
2nd time instructor: take the 3rd turning on your right.
i did there was a huge lorry with a guy throwing tile up to another guy in middle of ladder, who was throwing them up to another guy on top of the roof.
instructor erm what do you think you should do now the road is blocked.
me i wound down my window tucked in my mirror and drove under the ladder. stopp ed the other side put my mirros straight to shouts of well i would belive that wont she good.
i carried on the rest of test i slightly bumped the kerb on my 3 point kerb, thoughts it i have failed.
we got back to driving test centre, instuctor.: last question what would you like for christmas. me :sorry what?
you have deffinatly passed your test i cant belive the ladder thing i passed you there and then.
me what about the kerb on the 3 pont kerb.
sod the kerb you dorve under a ladder while 3 guys where throwing tiles about and i have never felt so safe with one person.
he did get some worried looks of other students when he said that guy ran in saying she drove under a ladder she actualy drove under a ladder.
saw my old instructor the other day he remebered me straight away and it was 18 years ago.
At last I have a signature.
  • I just failed for the 4th time. I have been told that there is a 34% pass rate in my area, doesn't sound too good to me. I hear of people talking of places with higher pass rates. I wonder if there is any truth in this or is it an urban myth perpetrated by driving schools. At the moment I think i would go anywhere to pass. 3 children and a very expensive bus company are crippling me financially. Any ideas
