my daughter's just passed 1st time, and i've realised its time i did my test again.i failed twice, once 17 years ago and again 10 years ago, so i have had a masive gap in between. Now im sick of buses and cadging lifts so i' m starting again next week.
I hope i don't get the same examiner as i had the last tweo times, he was minging and also smelled and was really ratty with me.can't recall what i failed on though!!:T :T"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Hi guys
Have my retest tom. morning. Wish me luck. I don't feel as sick with nerves as I did the last time, altho I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not. At least this time I know what to expect. (and I will be especially looking out for White vans)
Claire
(hopefully post back tom with the good news)

Loads of Good luck with your test tommorrow. (I'm the OP and have enjoyed following peoples comments in this thread)I also have my theory test tommorrow,so hopefully will pass that -I passed it before but it ran out!,so I'l be pretty gutted if I fail!-then can finnaly put in for the real test.I'm not ready for it yet,but theres a 5 week waiting list where I'l be doing it so I figure I should have time to sort out my manouvering and smooth everything off in that time.I have to pass before the kids have their 6 week hols,or I am likely to go insane!!0

Phew I passed my theory 34/35 and I think I changed the one that I got wrong, from right to wrong! I was extremely lucky,as it must of been the easiest selection of questions ever, there was only the one I was unsure of "on which 2 occasions must you produce your insurance certificate?" one was when a police oficer asks for it,and I was unsure whether the other occasion was when you take your driving test,or when you Tax your vehicle.
All the other questions I got were ridiculously obvious things like "when passing a horse and rider, should you beep the horn loudly,or go slowly allowing space..." and "when driving, a mobile phone can, help concerntration,or be a distraction..." etc cant remember the other options.but they were all very obvious,no tricky stopping distances or obscure motorway signs.
So now I've got to face the reality of taking the real test,I'm not sure how scared I am!! I have to smooth out my manouveres and roundabouts.I'm not sure whether I should just book and have a date to aim for,or wait till I'm perfect,I really want to pass before the summer hols(I have 3 kids) and have time to get used to driving alone before, driving alone with the kids.I almost booked a last minute one for a week today(the next available is mid June)but it's gone now.I think I'm almost as scared of passing as failing!!
claire 23 how did you get on,I've been wondeering about you?0 -
I failed my test first time year and half ago with something like 3 majors 9 minors. majors being: going on other side of the road when coming out of a roundabout, going into 3rd gear instead of 5th on dual carriageway and one for getting my left back tyre on a pavement when turning left :P
I then went on to pass with just 1 minor, three weeks later.0 -
Hi Peakma,
I failed.................
2 serious
Clipped the kerb on the left reverse
and going too slow around a town with hazards either side of the road
Drove at the same speed as in all my lessons
Ah well got next date in 5 weeks time so frustrated, just want to get on the road........

Just read through this thread and it brought back memories.
I passed first time when I was pregnant with my almost 17 year old. He is now about to start taking driving lessons and this thread has been very useful for highlighting what people can fail on.
I think I will be more nervous for him than I ever was for myself.
Is there an online site or good pc prog that anyone can recommend that goes over the theory stuff and maybe has a mock theory test?
Sorry your news wasn't good claire......chin up, you will get there.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I failed twice. First time much deserved as I didn't brake fast enough when someone stepped out in front of me on the high street. I didn't hit them, but my response should have been faster. Second time my reverse was a bit wide.0

aliasojo - Don't know if this helps but, I'm learning thro BSM and when you block book (i think) lessons you get a set of books and a CDrom for theory tests. It also has hazard perception clips to practice with as well. With the set of books would be one for you - if you're brave enough to take your son for extra practice. The Cd was very helpful for me I passed the theory with 34/35 for questions and 68/? for Hazard (apparently a good score for hazard perception...
)
Next date is 15/6/06 (hope to find a cancellation sooner)
