failed 5 times, three times 21 years ago so I stopped driving. Had another go 8 years ago and failed twice.
This times I've been driving since October, I'm a lot older and wiser and feel really confident for my test next week.
Going to use rescue remedy as its always been my nerves that have let me down:confused:

I took my one and only driving test 5 years ago. I had been having lessons for a few months and my instructor told me to put in for it as i was up to standard.

The morning of my test i could see my instuctor park up and wait for me and as i walked to the car. I passed a glimpse of my own car, the one MrJudi had bought for me to learn in and i could see it had been broken into and the door wouldnt shut. Frantically i phoned MrJudi who was working 150 miles away just before i set off for my 2 hour lesson, before the test. I had to leave my little car with the door open and all the wires had been cut inside as they had tried to start it without the key.

Then on my lesson i had 4 or 5 texts (from MrJudi about the car insurance), which i ignored but they had put me off my stride and i started making mistakes and my driving was awful.

I got to the test centre, and this big grease ball of a bloke came striding across to me and introduced himself as my examiner. By this time i got to the car and was trembling that much, i couldnt open the door. We got in, he stunk badly of BO and stale fags and the smell was overpowering. After my test (which i failed - probably cause i was holding my breath), my instructor said 'what on earth is that awful smell?' I explained it was the examiner and she said i should have asked for a re test. She drove home with all the windows open.

I got home, MrJudi rang me and asked how i had got on, when i told him i had failed he reminded me of the amount of lessons i had to get this far, and i decided there and then, i couldnt face going through it again. It was a truly horrible experience, even if i had only failed on one minor point.

Thing is, i dont regret having the lessons, and i dont really regret giving it up as everyone else was more dissapointed than i was, i think they were looking forward to having someone to ferry them around.

Well recently (March the 2nd 2006) I failed (2 majors, and 2 minors) for majorly cocking up my parallel park, I'd done an AMAZING as in picture perfect reverse around the corner and was feeling confident about that... Then the instructor asked me to do a parallel park, so i did....although I didn't,(1 major;)) it was more like a glorified reverse, I didn't turn the steering wheel as much as it needed to be turned.... After her saying "is that the manouver complete" i was like erm yep.... pulled off etc, then got to a right angle corner in the road, got round it but clipped the kerb with the back of my wheel (2 major ;))...Oops :)

In fairness I was INCREDIBLY scared about this test, I didn't know what to expect...

On my second test (24th of april), I got No majors  :D and 5 minors :o (oops!).... I had the head examiner, and he told me that at the end he had some bad news to tell me, (cue me going "D'oh, I thought that went ok!")... The bad news being that I'd have to buy a car when I graduate as he was passing me... I went "oh, really?"....then he told me that he could fail me if I wanted...(haha...I then zipped it  )

It made my day.... and I was so happy that I passed, I think that a lot had to do with the fact that when i failed I was incredibly nervous, I didn't know what to expect and I wasn't overly confident with my manouvers... in the test that I passed, I did a turn in the road (easy peasy!) and a bay park (which I hate!!! I have since retaught myself how to bay park without the driving instructors method!!) and I passed.... and so I can conclude that it *is* possible to pass, so keep trying, keep smiling and it'll be okay :)

    ~ditzy x:p

(Oh! And DEFINITELY jabber away to the driving instructor, it relaxes you, making senseless conversation, and it distracts them from any hiccups you may make.... DON'T talk to your car in your test like I do"oops, we're going a bit too fast there!" etc... and DON'T stress if you get in the wrong lane (unless its a one way road, THEN you may stress!!) as the examiner will help redirect you (says she who can't tell her left from her right!!!!!!) x

Ummm, I think i took the most time to get my driving test passed:p I did 4 driving test!

1st time- failed by driving too fast!

2nd time- did a mistake on roundabout, i had to turn right, so when passing the 2nd exit, i tried to have a lane change, but then scare my examiner (might be driving too fast again?)

3rd time- I think you guys won't believe this! i failed by being too careful! ( that's from the mouth of the examiner!) and I think the examiner was discriminated me as well! he did address me with my nationality but not my name when he first called and everyone in the waiting room was so shocked!

    4th time- passed!!
