  • Hi RiffRaff,

The modem is set to arrive the day prior to when the service goes live!

Could you please PM me your username and I'll track the parcel?

    Thank you

    Kind regards,
    Samara

    Hi Samara,

I've just received an e-mail saying I've now completed my migration to Madasafish - only problem is that my modem hasn't arrived yet! I can't use the modem from my previous ISP as it's apparently locked to their domain. So two quick questions if you could indulge me:

    1. How long does the modem take to arrive, usually (ordered a week ago)
    2. Now the migration is complete can I continue using my old ISP's account until the modem arrives?

    Thanks,

    RR

I would google the modem and see if there are any other drivers you could use in the mean time

REX_MUNDI I was going to have a try at the BT Speedtest that you mentioned but my router won't let me leave the password box blank :(

  • Hi Miniemma,

I think that you can also type the word "password" into the password field rather than leaving it blank (technical, I know!).

Samara there really is no limit to your knowledge is there !! :T

I got - 1745 kilo bits per second (Kbps) - so lets see what it is after my changeover ;)

    Thanks again :)
  • Hi Miniemma,

One thing to keep in mind when your service first becomes live is that we'll be provisioning you for speeds up to 8Mb. When you first get speeds of up to 8Mb there is a 10 day stabilisation period where BT will be testing your line to find the optimum speed. During this time you will most likely experience slower speeds then what we expect for you to receive once the 10 day period is up.

If after the 10 day period is up you're not getting the speeds that we indicated you would receive in our speed checker when you signed up, please PM me and I'll investigate.

    Thank you for choosing Madasafish.

    Kindi regards,
    Samara

    Hi Samara.

Thanks for all your help so far. Are you able to tell me whether the 10 day stabilisation period can be restarted by resetting or something?
I am asking because I was on holiday during the 10 days after my upgrade & the speed now is no quicker than before upgrade (1Mbps). However, on the 2 days before my hols I was achieving speeds quite a bit faster (1.45Mbps).

    Thanks again.

  • Hello Izzitme,

I hope that you enjoyed your holiday!

Even after the 10 day period the line is still monitored and the speed will increase if the line sync rates increase.

I would make a note of what the current sync rate is and if it is 1500k higher than the throughput speed it will increase if it is lower than 1500k then reboot and see if it resyncs higher.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

  • Hi Everyone,

I am actually going away on holiday!

I will be away from my desk until Friday of next week. I've got a standin who is very talented and he will be keeping an eye on this thread and my Private Messages.

If there is anything specific for me to look into, please PM me with the subject line: For Samara.

I'll be in most of today and try to respond to all PM's before I go.

    Kind regards,
    Samara
