Thank you for your ever speedy response Samara!

I have checked through my emails and can not see anything saying anything about 10 days but I was wondering if that was because my line already 'appeared to be' 4 - 5 mbps on speed tests before the migration?
  • Hi Miniemma,

I've just done a check during our sign up process, and in the speed checker box on the sign up page, there is the text: The actual line speed supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. During this time, BT will test and moderate your line to ensure stability at the fastest possible speed. You might experience slow speeds or intermittent connections during this period. Unfortunately we will not be able to raise a fault with BT if this does occur.

I'll roll up my sleeves and do an audit of the welcome letters ;)

    Kind regards,
    Samara

Hi there....I am considering moving to your service from bulldog broadband. I am currently on their 8meg(LLU) service and was wondering what sort of downtime i would experience and what procedure i would need to follow to join madasafish. Thanks for your help in advance!

  • Hi Maniac886,

Thanks for your interest in our services!

Because Bulldog broadband are on a full LLU (they unbundle the voice and broadband part of your line) it makes it so you cannot migrate. In the future you will be able to migrate from a partial LLU provider (where the broadband is the only unbundled portion of the line).

What you will need to do is cancel your Bulldog services and sign up again for a BT line (you can do this through a wholesale provider if you wish - for example the Post Office). We will be able to accept your order when your new phoneline has gone live and BT have updated their records (this usually happens on the same day). Once your order has been accepted it will take us up to 7 working days to install the service on your line.

I hope that makes sense! Please feel free to post again or PM me if you should have any further questions.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

Aha, you have just proved that I didn't read everything when I signed up  :D

But, there is still nothing official that says that I need to leave my router/modem on for these 10 days as suggested in previous posts on this thread.....
    Hello Ec9wrr,

I had to ask my tech support for the answer to your query, and here is what they've said:

"Depends if they are using a router or a USB powered modem as the 10 DLM starts once there is a connection of more than 15 minutes. If a router then please ask that the routers is left powered on and that it be set to be connected at all times. If they are using a USB modem it would be best to connect when they get back and the 10 days will start from then."

    I hope that is helpful.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

I'm considering changing to madasafish from BT they've just been a pain,I have my MAC number. I have speedtouch would this be ok with madasafish? Also do I keep all the bookmarks as well? These might be stupid questions but I'm not a technical person. "I don't surf the internet its more of a trundle around"

Well as MAAF give you a free router, you may as well use it as it is better than your USB modem. Your bookmarks are stored in your browser on your computer and have nothing to do with which ISP you choose to use.

  • Hi Fleur,

Thank you for your interest in our services!

Speedtouch products are compatible with our services.

When you change Internet Service providers your browser will stay the same - thus you don't need to worry about loosing your bookmarks/homepage/internet preferences.

The changes that you will see is a different provider will bring the broadband service to you, your billing will change and your connection details will need to be updated (this is easy).

If you do sign up with us, please make sure you use a referral code (you can find them in the referral section of this site) and you'll get £10 credited to your account and the referee will get £20. You could also choose to use the promotional code "CHEAPER" and you'll get £1 off a month for the first year of service (value £12).

I hope that is helpful and please keep in touch if you have any further questions.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

ps. espresso has a good point - taking the free hardware from us would be an upgrade from the USB speedtouch that you have - and you may get better speed results if you can use the ethernet connection on our router.

Does anyone know if you can transfer an existing .co.uk domain to MAAF instead of taking up the free domain offer ? If yes, are there any costs involved ?

I'm currently waiting for the E7even debacle to sort itself out before I can move to a new provider, and MAAF is a possible.

As E7even have dissapeared I also will not be able to get them to change the tags on the domain name etc.

    Thanks,

    Steve.
  • Hello Steve,

You can transfer a domain name ending in .co.uk, me.uk or .org.uk into the Madasafish services and have it count as your free domain name.

For e7even customers, have a look at the nominet site for changing registration agents when an agent is unable or unwilling to assist. The charge by Nominet for this service is £15 (plus VAT) per domain name. You'll simply need to fill out the online form and Nominet will try to do their best to process the form in two working days.

Request that the tag be changed to BVH if you wish for us to host the domain. If you do take this path, please PM me your Madasafish username and the domain name that you've transferred in so that I can associate the two.

Thank you for your interest in Madasafish and please keep in touch if I can be of further assistance.

    Kind regards,
    Samara
