I have the same speed problem with MAAF. The average speed I get is below 600 KB. MAAF is looking into this for last 6-7 weeks. They said they contacted BT and according to BT the speed I get is OK. Again I contacted MAAF to confirm that BT really said 800kb is an acceptable speed for 2MB BB. In return MAAF asked me to do further speed tests and now confirmed that the speed I get is slow and they will contact BT again.
One thing I noticed with MAAF is that if you sent a mail or call the customer service you will get a fast response. But their followup is very poor. You need to keep reminding them that the problem is not solved.
However I have seen many extremely happy MAAF customers in this board.0 -
Strangely my speed rose on Thursday to around 440Kbps. It was 470Kbps on Friday & today I am getting around 950Kbps.
I have had a call from MAAF telling me that the "fault" has been reported to BT for investigation, & I will hear from either MAAF or BT soon with an answer.

I am on the verge of signing up with MAAF, in fact I have my MAC and I have nearly finished filling in the form, but I have a quick question. Where I fill in my required username so that i can have username@ madasafish.com, is that the only @madasafish.com email address that I can have? I realise I can have a domain name and WhoeverILike@ mydomainname.com but I really fancy a couple of @madasafish's0 -

Hello Miniemma,
It's really interesting as I've actually been asked this question quite a few times recently! It's really nice to see that people want to use the @madasafish.com addresses over the free domain name addresses.
Technically on broadband the unlimited free email addresses is associated with your free domain name or if you want you can set up any email address ending in @yourusername.madasafish.com.
If you wish to have more email addresses ending in @madasafish.com, and you have broadband with us, I would recommend signing up for a Pay As You Go account using the username that you wish to use as your email handle. Pay As You Go is a dial up service - however you don't need to use that part of the service. In order for that Pay As You Go account to remain active you must query our mail server for your mail at least once every 35 days from within our network (this could be your Madasafish Broadband connection).
If you do choose to go the route of the broadband subscription with the supplementry Pay As You Go email addresses ending in @madasafish.com, please PM me with that information along with your usernames for all of the accounts. I would like to add it as a note to your accounts that I gave you the advice to use this method for additional @madasafish.com email addresses.
Thank you!
Kind regards,

I see a couple of posts here about speed of the broadband. There is a very good speedtest out there that could actually help figure out where any problem lay before you contact MAAF. BT do a speedtest that tests your ADSL line before it gets to MAAF.
Here's how to use the test..................
Go to your modem or router. Log out of your broadband (make sure you remember your login details). Reconnect to broadband using these details....
Username: speedtest@speedtest_domain
Password: (leave blank)
When you connect to this network. Open your browser (your homepage, or any 'normal' webpages wont load on this network) and go to the page http://speedtester.bt.com/ You will be prompted for your phone number. Enter this and click Go. This test will show you how your broadband is performing on the BT network before it gets to MAAF. You can do this test only once every 30 minutes.
Once you have finished the test. You need to go back to your modem/router and enter your login details for MAAF.
Once you've reconnected to MAAF. Go to the speedtest at ADSLGuide and run the test on your normal connection.
If the speedtest for BT shows full speeds, and the ADSLGuide test is low. This could indicate a problem on the MAAF network.
If the speedtest for BT is low, or the same as the ADSLGuide test. This would indicate a problem at your local exchange, or on your line, or with your equipment.
If you run this test before contacting MAAF about low speeds. It could actually help them in trying to find out where the problem is.

I'VE DONE IT !!!
I am know officially as mad as a fish and oh my goodness me am I glad !!!
As part of the process of changing over, I came across a page on BT's help section that said ....
"Keeping your BT Yahoo! email address
Note once you have cancelled your BT Broadband account you will lose your BT Yahoo! email address unless you take steps to keep it active by setting up a Pay-As-You-Go account. Ask about this when dialling the numbers above."
Great thinks me, I can keep them going for a little while to make sure I catch everyone who emails me and let them know our new addresses and keep up with mailing lists i'm on etc
NO apparently I can't
I rang 0800 800 030 they said try tech supp
I rang 0845 600 7030 nope, they say
Try 0800 800 150 - nope they say
Try 0800 328 9642, nope, they transfer me to who knows who and then get told to try
0800 085 2819 who transfer me to the Customer Options Team who are the first number i rang anyway AARRGGHH
So by this time I have filled out the MAAF form and transferred officially YAY and got the email that says my MAAF email address is ready to use - so I told BT i couldn't be bothered anymore and hung up

Hi Miniemma,
Welcome to Madasafish! :T
I'm here to help if you ever need me - I get alerted to private messages through my email and I can answer them pretty quickly!
Also, please do let me know should you go with the Pay As You Go route for the different addresses and I'll do my best to try and link all the accounts together.
Kind regards,

Thanks Samara, I have decided just to stick with the email addresses that come with the domain name because my husband said he didn't mind me nabbing the masasafish one

Hi Samara,
I've just received an e-mail saying I've now completed my migration to Madasafish - only problem is that my modem hasn't arrived yet! I can't use the modem from my previous ISP as it's apparently locked to their domain. So two quick questions if you could indulge me:
1. How long does the modem take to arrive, usually (ordered a week ago)
2. Now the migration is complete can I continue using my old ISP's account until the modem arrives?
Thanks,
RR0
