Hi Samara,
I'm close to signing up to Madasfish Max Broadband, A couple of points:
1. Are your routers locked to Madasafish?
2. Can u change the Domain one enters at sign-up later when claiming the free domain via. "My Account" at the later stage?
3. Is it possiible to hide ones details/address ie: is there will be an option to opt-out of having your details published on the internet as the owner of the domain, that you claim via. "My Account" at the later stage?Madasafish_Customer_Care wrote:Hi Wazza,
With broadband, we can only guarantee the connection from the master socket, however that's not to say that it won't work from your phone extensions.
The reason that we cannot guarantee the connection from phone extensions is that there is no set standard to which all phone extensions are installed. We have noticed that on ADSL MAX (otherwise known as "speeds up to 8MB") that internal wiring in a house can have a greater effect on the quality of service.
To eliminate the problem of phone extensions, you could invest in a wireless router which you can have plugged into your master socket. All wireless ADSL routers should work on our services (with exception to those that are network locked, certain ISPs supply networked locked routers to keep your custom). If you buy a wireless router through any high street shop, it should work on our services. If you have any further questions about wireless routers, I'll be happy to help.
Kind regards,

Hi Tv_Junky,
I’m pleased to see that you’re interested in our broadband services. I’ll do my best to answer your questions:
1. Are your routers locked to Madasafish?
No, you can use the free 210 router that we provide with any ADSL broadband provider. We disagree with the practice of network locking routers, from a consumer and an environmental standpoint.
2. Can you change the Domain you enters at sign-up later by claiming the free domain via "My Account"?
You cannot claim a domain when you sign up, this has to be done after sign up by logging into “My Account”. Once a domain name has been claimed via “My Account”, we are unable to change it. The only identifier that you need to select when you sign up is your username.
3. Is it possible to hide ones details/address ie: is there will be an option to opt-out of having your details published on the internet as the owner of the domain, that you claim via. "My Account" at the later stage?
This is possible! After you’ve claimed your domain name, a new menu item in My Account should appear which is called Whois Opt-Out. If you click on this you can opt out of having your details published on the Internet as the owner of the domain,
I hope that is helpful.
Kind regards,

But I believe you request a domain name during sign-up....why?
I ask as i'm having difficulty on settling on a suitable domain name at that stage, is it necessary to enter one at Sign-up? as I would prefer to claim one at a later time. I understand it is then fixed and one only has one opportunity of a free domain name.

Hi TV_Junky,
There is no need to claim a domain name until you are absolutely ready

Thankyou for your prompt information, when we say details that means ones name and address i assume?
As a Private individual I would not wish my name or address to be available from a "Whois" request. Please confirm this is the case.
Thankyou and regards Tv_Junky0 -
Hi Tv_Junky,
The registrant's name will still appear however the address will be hidden.
Registrants of .uk domain names who are "non-trading individuals" can opt-out of having their address details displayed in the Whois database.

Hi Samara
I have signed up yesterday with Madasafish MAX, due to be activated for use on 15th June 2006 and have mean while been perusing the Support pages!
Although they seem excellent, I am unable to find any help regarding "Using a Backup Dialup Account" or any mention of such a option??
1. Do we have such service in the event of "Broadband" being unavailable?
2. If a number exists, can a Customer use the number before activation?
3. Can you please point me to the help section regarding this subject?
Thanks in advance
Regards

Hi Tv_Junky,
We were recently asked the same query on ADSL Guide
As a result of that I am having my tech team author a new support page for this information - it used to be on our old pages, however it didn't get carried over in the redesign.
I will chase up the new support page and have it posted online shortly and post again when it's up!
Kind regards,

I signed up to Madasafish about 10 days ago, mainly due to the price and Samara this thread, and set myself up today. Had a few problems getting started so I phoned the tech helpline and the man sorted me out quickly - turned out to be settings on my computer. If I'd had known it was this simple I'd have done it ages ago!0
