Hi, i am currently with NTL broadband and am looking to change.

I recall that with BT brodband the PC has to be within a certain range from the main telephone socket otherwise you may lose connection. I think it was 10 metres. Does the same rule applies for Madasafish? My telephone socket is downstairs and my pc is in the spare bedroom upstairs
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D
  • Hi Damski,

We are currently working on launching a telephone service. In the next few months, I would expect to see a package launched where you can get your line rental, call package and broadband from Madasafish.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

  • Hi Wazza,

With broadband, we can only guarantee the connection from the master socket, however that's not to say that it won't work from your phone extensions.

The reason that we cannot guarantee the connection from phone extensions is that there is no set standard to which all phone extensions are installed. We have noticed that on ADSL MAX (otherwise known as "speeds up to 8MB") that internal wiring in a house can have a greater effect on the quality of service.

To eliminate the problem of phone extensions, you could invest in a wireless router which you can have plugged into your master socket. All wireless ADSL routers should work on our services (with exception to those that are network locked, certain ISPs supply networked locked routers to keep your custom). If you buy a wireless router through any high street shop, it should work on our services. If you have any further questions about wireless routers, I'll be happy to help.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

    Hi Wazza,
I did exactly what Samara has suggested above. Got a wireless router downstairs and now have broadband upstairs where I wanted it. Was very easy to setup as well. You can get a router and USB thing to plug in your PC (if you haven't already got wireless) for around £50.
Just a quick point to Samara - let your company know how useful this forum is! The only reason that I chose MAAF over alternative broadband suppliers was your speed answers on here and knowing that I could always leave messages on here if I had problems. Keep up the good work!
    thanks,

Samara - thanks for the speedy reply. Am i correct in saying that i will get a standard router? I can try that and if it fails then invest in a wirless router.

    Thanks

  • Hi Wazza,

The free hardware that we provide is indeed a router. It's a Voyager 210.

If you do end up getting the wireless router, you can always sell the 210 on ebay.

Ec9wrr - Thank you for the compliment!

    Kind regards,

  • Hiya,

I've just signed up to madasafish and we went live around the 20 May. While we managed to sort out initial connection problems we are still having trouble browsing. The modem is showing we are still connected but we can't access web pages. It is very slow loading up pages sometimes as well. Restarting the PC occassionally helps, but not all the time.

    Anyone any ideas?

    cheers
