I use a Mac at home too
It's practically the same as if you were using a PC. You still plug the router into your Mac/PC and use your browser (probably Safari?) to go to the router page, which should be documented in the O2 documentation. I think it was something like http://192.168.0.248

Sorry about that, but Quentin and yourself have commented on how good o2 is on here 5 pages back thats nothing to do with this thread either.
When I was with madasafish I asked about this default password and how worried you should be about changing this default to prevent access.
Is it just to prevent someone from your own computer or can it be done from outside your network.0 -
Hi Bernard,
It all depends on how your router is setup really. If you allow outside access to your router then it's absolutely imperative that you change the routers password. Here's a link that shows you a bunch of default router passwords - I hope it helps!
If you don't have any security settings set up, then anyone on your router will be able to access it if they are on your home network (either plugged in to your router or connected via wireless).“Official Company Representative

If I never used anything other than browsing and email and sharing is always off on all ports in mac network settings is there still need for the firewall on.
If I start using the encrypted ichat without the need for bonjour would that require me to alter password on router.0 -
There's always a need for a firewall
There's lots of nasty people out there looking for unsecured connections to abuse
You need to secure the wireless side of your connection so that someone outside your house can't use your internet connection.“Official Company Representative

So wired is virtually impossible to hack your router and use connection then if your not sharing and have no ports open.0

I'm no security or hacking expert, but I'd definitely recoomend using the inbuilt firewall on your router in addition to a software firewall on your machines.“Official Company Representative

Back to MAAF ........
I have just managed to negotiate a new deal with MAAF, for the next year.
I had to raise a ticket on the MAAF site but this enabled me to get £13.99 per month and a new router kit for the 20GB package.
I know that O2 was cheaper, but when you add in the inclusive domain name, static IP, and individual mailboxes, I am pleased with the result.
This time next year I would have been 10 years with the same ISP, so they are not all bad.0 -
Guys who are thinking of switching out, you need to know there is a cost of domain transfer.
Received this reply today:
Please note that if you wish to transfer your domain away from Madasafish to another ISP, you will need to fill out a domain transfer form online.
To complete this request, you will need to fill out a domain transfer form online. You will need to go to www.madasafish.com and login to "My Account" Once you have successfully logged in, you will need to click on the "Internet" tab, followed by "Domain transfer" and proceed> You will be required to provide payment details as there is a transfer fee of £25. Please be advised that you will need to know IPS tag that you are transferring your domain to.
I noticed someone reporting double speed on non LLU o2 connection compared to MAAF. Is that normal?0 -
I have done tests at thinkbroad and moneysuper and its saying 5.5meg I never had this with madasfish, their test was always 2 to 3 meg and always read higher than thinkbroadband or bt test.
In fairness I had a dlink 504t router provided by waitrose.com and kept it right through to madasfish switch but they are the same ISP I should have upgraded as they were giving away a free router at the time. I have not compared this one yet on this connection as I would have to manually do it I have not got the info how to do it for this old router.0
