Agreed, he does not moan and his bullsh!t detector is second to none! It is obvious to all that MAAF service and support has been dragged down to the level of Plusnet since the takeover last year. James has admitted that he simply does not have time to regularly read this forum, due to 'all of his other responsibilities' - less staff doing more work, support will suffer! This is an open forum and all comments both good and bad should be expected. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hi, I've had a very busy week so am just following this up now.
Thank you for all the information.
I particularly appreciate Quentin's points of assistance and also James' offer to fast-track resolution of this situation.
I've just tracked down my ticket for this and all kinds of comments have been added that I wasn't alerted to, and I can't find my own queries that I added to it, and the ticket was closed. It's all a bit odd and I think Quentin is right that if things can't be resolved, it is better to put them in snail mail.
I will try contacting James first, so hopefully the Offcom situation can be avoided.0 -
My memory isn't "selective". But it does seem that even the MAAF staff aren't aware of what their contracts actually do say.
All their contracts are for 12 months, but as posted earlier, they allow you out of them without paying them up (in the case of initial contracts, you were required to pay the cost of installation plus the price of any hardware supplied, and in the case of retentions by paying back any discount granted for staying with them, plus again the cost of any hardware taken in year 2 - why would they have punitive contracts for year 2, and non punitive ones for year 1?).
Hello Quentin
I am leaving madasafish for o2. I was not happy about being misled by customer service about the contracts.
I had done my 12 months and tried bargaining but it was always for a new 12 months.
I carried on overpaying for 3 months on my old deal of £17.99 because of this.
So I could have accepted an offer of £9.99 and I could have left at any time after that without paying for a full year and then jumped to o2 at £7.50 when the exchange was upgraded.
I have cancelled my dd with them and I think I owe £30 quid for this month
Do you think I have good argument for not letting them have this months bill.0 -
On what grounds? You always have to give them 28 days notice.
Is the £30 you now owe them correct?
From what we are now hearing, if you had accepted the £9.99 offer it looks like you'd have a fight on your hands to get out of it! (Even though they cannot yet produce the different contract they say folk have agreed to and are tied to when they stay on at a reduced price.)0 -
I accepted a number of times a new contract at £9.99 but their ticket system was slow. I kept answering a question from them about the 12 month liability and continued discussions about it but they didn't knock change the direct debit as a result of me debating about this new policy.
They have been taking the £17.99 plus extra gb use since my 12 month contract ended in May, I cancelled it this month . I am still connected as I post with madasfish until o2 contact me by text to say its activated.
I did give them 1 month notice on 19th June by ticket.0 -
If you gave notice on 19th June, then you should now be finished with them. Did they confirm the cancellation?0

Afternoon everyone.
Apologies for my quiet period. I'm just running through my PMs atm (after spending the last 4 hours doing the ones on ThinkBroadband!) and I'll post back in here a bit later on.“Official Company Representative

I have been with Madasafish for 2 years now, and have had no problems with the and am just renewing now and James seems to be most helpful and on the ball. I have always renewed my contract every 12 months, just like my mobile contract0
-
Just to let everyone know James called me and offered me what seems like a very fair situation.
He is emailing me the full set of terms and conditions for the renewal contract and allowing a period to compare before I commit.
I understand the offers are not as good as they used to be, and not as good as o2 now, but I need to weigh up the hassle of moving against the differences. I have had tech problems with MAAF in the past but the last few months have been great, and as I work from home and depend on the connection, I am a bit wary to risk a new provider.
To help me compare, if anyone knows the answers to these questions I'd much appreciate the info:
1. Does o2 charge for home move within the 12 months and if so, what cost?
2. How can you tell when o2 will move to your exchange?
3. What do you have to do if you have a domain whose emails come in to your existing ISP, to have them moved to your new provider?
4. How long is downtime when changing?
5. What is o2's record on the technical side?
Anyway, I hope I'm not hogging the topic with all those questions.0
