If you gave notice on 19th June, then you should now be finished with them. Did they confirm the cancellation?

I have been told to give madasafish a credit card number as I cancelled my DD or they will disable my account.

The invoice section said I had paid fully thats why I cancelled it.

o2 just sent a text to say to plug in and start.

I feel I was ripped off for 3 months on the old contract price cos they wouldnt agree without 12 month policy.

Make sure they know you have cancelled your account as it seems as if you are still connected? Which account are they threatening to disable?

Don't think you were ripped off - you would have had to pay them the difference between the discounted price and the £17.99 you've been paying to be let out.

    1. Does o2 charge for home move within the 12 months and if so, what cost?
    2. How can you tell when o2 will move to your exchange?
    3. What do you have to do if you have a domain whose emails come in to your existing ISP, to have them moved to your new provider?
    4. How long is downtime when changing?
    5. What is o2's record on the technical side?

    1. No - providing you take o2 at the new house, otherwise termination charge applied (£50, or pay up remainder whichever cheaper)

    2. You can see what it says on Samknows website.

    3. If it's your own domain, use the same instructions with your new isp as you did when you set it up with maaf. Easy.

    4. Not long - hours, not days.

    5. Check it out at Thinkbroadband comparison site:

    http://www.thinkbroadband.com/isp/compare.html?isp_17=1&isp_86=1&commit=Compare

And see the comments at the o2 users forum on thinkbroadband. Technical calls are handled via freephone and are UK based.

I think the fair usage policy is amazing. If I remember rightly somebody saying on a forum somewhere that downloading 50gb was not excessive in the first few months. And that they were downloading 500gb or more.

BLIMEY I logged into my madasafish account via my new o2 connection and my speed test doubled to 6 meg only getting 3 with madasfish.

Pages are working twice as quick I have informed Madasfish.com about the activation and to cancel.

If the exchange is ready for LLU this month I cant wait for the upgrade speeds.

So the grass is much more green and lush in the O2 field in comparison to the MAAF field - same line but twice the speed and it's not down to LLU.

You believe me don't you, can you help with o2 set up.

I have successfully set up router and I the first thing I did was to secure it from their help pages (not sure how people can access it via this method could somebody explain how they can do this if you do not change it.)

    Securing the O2 wireless box

When you first receive your O2 wireless box II it is set to a default username and password to allow you quick and easy access without any need for additional usernames and passwords.

This could leave your home network open to new security threats that are becoming more common through the Internet. There is a simple step you need to help prevent these threats and secure your home network. We want your O2 Home Broadband connection to be as secure as possible, so we recommend you change your password.

To secure your O2 wireless box II follow these simple steps:
Open your browser (Internet Explorer) and in the address bar enter '192.168.1.254'

From the first screen select the 'Toolbox' from the menu on the left.

On the main section of the screen you will see a section called 'User Management.' You need to click on this option.

The 'User Management' page will display all of the users you have set up on your O2 wireless box II. The standard set up we have sent you will only have the user name of 'Administrator.' This will be the current default user and will give you access to make any necessary changes to your O2 wireless box II. To allow you instant access to the O2 wireless box II there is no password set up to block unwanted users and protect the settings you have made.

Below the 'Pick a task;' section click on the option to 'Change my password.'

You will now see three fields on the screen that are currently blank.

In the first field, 'Old Password,' you do not need to type anything as there is no current password.

In the 'New Password' field type in a password that you can easily remember. There is no limit on the minimum number of characters, but we recommend you use a password with between 6-12 characters.

You now need to repeat the same password you chose in the 'Confirm New Password' field.

When you have selected and typed in your new password in both fields click 'Change Password.'

The settings will then be applied to your O2 wireless box II and then you will be asked to enter your user name and password to continue.

Your user name is: Administrator (you must use a capital A) Your password is: the password you chose

You will have the option to select 'Remember my password.' We do not recommend you use this option to ensure your password remains secure to only you and help prevent unauthorised access.

    Click 'OK.'

The O2 wireless box II will now register your new password and bring you back to the 'User Management' screen.

I did this exactly but on my mac laptop a box appears at the top of web browser window and asks me to type name and password and the page that appears says if you are not redirected click here which I did but nothing happens.

I do not think the box is secure can you help has any mac user experienced this.

Everytime I get a new router I have a problem with this user management change. Broadband working but I know its not secure as now I cant login to it.
Thompson management window won't let me check the stats anymore even though I was extra careful following all it says above.
I know I am going to have to reset it now and I bet it will get a slow connection.
I did check a few stats before I changed password on DSL and it said the up speed 4 down 7.

Just ran a connectivity check after login with code adsl2 website.
    Test Results
    DSL
    ATM
    PPP
    IP
Internet a big red X by it and a connectivity gateway in brackets

But my broadband is working though. Is there any point in changing this password again.

You should really start your own thread as this has nothing to do with MAAF has it?

When configuring your router, you should be connected using the Ethernet cable. No experience with MAC's myself - Samara did though! :D
