Isn't there a big risk that they will realise that you are the same household and subsequently charge you for the box? Or do you and OH have different surnames? We're married and do have the same surname.

Hi Ruthiejane, we're still living in sin at the moment so its 2 different names. If they question it i'll just say my OH has left me and cancelled his sky and I still want it so am opening a new account in my own name.

I was really bummed about missing out on the £130 cashback as I had waited for the £50 tesco voucher as well to go for it and was too late!

But as crapwithcash82 got £130 tracked, I thought instead of my rpoints account (which has always tracked) i'll try the quidco on the off chance i'll get lucky. Signed up 30 minutes ago for Sky HD and what do you know, £130 is tracking through Quidco! Result, not sure if they will pay it out but worth a go especially with £50 Tesco vouchers as well.

    cheers all for info.

Well done johnhoque! I was pleasantly surprised at the £130 tracked on my Quidco, I would have been happy with the £60 but am delighted with the £130. Glad it worked for you too!
  • I also went through the Quidco route and have £130 tracking at the moment, as well as the £50 Tesco voucher that Sky offer too!

Not a bad deal I guess, if Quidco pay up!

Yay!! My husband rang sky this morning and told them he was cancelling because the temptation of a Freeview+ box from Aldi at £19.99 was too much... we now have a Sky+ box on the way for £30something including installation!!!

  • After much pestering by me my parents finally agreed to let me get a better package deal for them. They've been with Virgin for about 10 years (or Telewest as it was then) and in that time they'd been 'given' the maximum packages for TV and phone and M broadband. They're still using their original box that is only a tuner and nothing more. All this lot plus a Sky Sports subscription was costing them £75 per month.

I phoned Sky and got 4 TV packages, Sky Sports, HD for 12 months, no line rental for 12 months, 2mb broadband (all they need) and their top phone package for £45 per month, plus a new phoneline installed for £25 and a free Sky+ HD box with free installation.

The best Virgin could do to counter this was a non-HD package for £55 per month with a £150 cost for a V+ box.

It just goes to show that loyalty does not get rewarded.

Please help! I've only just seen this and I really want to do this deal for my gf (and add Max Broadband)

She has line rental and BB with BT. She phoned them earlier and they said the BB contract had expired (yay!) but the line rental had rolled on to a new 12 month contract (apparently she had to opt out?? She doesn't remember seeing any opt out letters). This 'contract' continues until May 2010! She's apparently on 'Friends and Family' and if she moves line rental providers she'll have to pay £7.50 for each month left on the contract.
BT also told her that her calls aren't with BT. They were taken by another provider about a year ago but wouldn't tell her who. She never switched call provider and has recieved no bills from any other provider.

    What can we do?
Can BT hold her to this 'rolled' contract?
What can she do about the erroneous switch of call provider? I'm sure Sky will need to switch her from this mystery provider for the deal.

Please help or direct me to where this might be better answered. The deal ends tomorrow :(

Hi, just phoned sky to cancel - had a really hard time of it. Although My partner has a different name to me, I made the mistake of telling Sky that I was cancelling to set up in partners name for current deal. he said he would put notes all over my acct so that WHEN they become aware of what I am doing, they can take me to Court for breach of the new contract.

How likely is it that they will find out? Diferent name, different bank account...

also, if my partner applies as a new customer, will there be a problem by the fact that until HIS 31 day notice period is up (which he has given today), there is still broadband and TV 'connected' to the house - in otherwords, can I do this without a 'break' in broadband connection because I cant use his mac code 'as he's leaving me...'!

Checked Quidco, and unfortunately it now says only £60 is tracking. Annoying!
