There's only a few days left on this deal and I've just taken advantage.
To answer some of the queries running through this thread here's my answer. First off, I tried the website approach to see if it was as tough to work out as people say and I agree it is - nothing is 100% clear.
However, as Simplify Digital have an 0800 number it's no real hardship to phone them. I had a chat with a very helpful and friendly employee (Abdul). He was prepared to talk me through the process live over the phone or (as we did) he did the hard work and I just answered / asked questions.
So, the deal is:
- A one off payment of £49
- This is covered by the £55 cashback - this is in the form of a cheque up to 90 days later - so if you can't cover teh £49 then don't bother.
- The phone deal is confusing even after asking about it. If you take up the offer advertised then Sky take over your line and you will get a farewell note from BT. Line rental is then not charged for the first 12mths. There are options to continue with BT and have a deal with Sky but I didn't delve into those and it is this that is causing the confusion.
- Broadband is an option, you do NOT have to take it.
- The deal includes 1 default mix of Variety but you can add all or no more as you wish.
I hope this helps some of you?0 -
I used to have sky full package quite a few years ago but cancelled due to the increasing prices. The only thing I want to see this summer is the cricket against the ausies in HD. My property already has a dish fitted, so what would anybody recomend as the cheapest way to suscribe for the cricket & get a sky plus HD box but without taking on any broadband / telephone packages (i have those covered) & to be able to cancel asap after the cricket finishes at the end of the summer.
Thanks in advance. :T0 -
We've just rung up to upgrade our Sky+ package to Sky+ HD and there is a waiting list for the HD box!!0

Thanks for this information. I think that I am going to navigate to Freesat another way.0 -
Also, like other questions I am unclear about the BT / Sky phone line rental question
Sounds to me like if you get the "you will still pay BT for your line rental" that Sky isn't in your telephone exchange yet and you can't get the included Sky broadband offer. Check your phone number on samknows - the thing to look for is "Sky / Easynet" in the LLU section.0 -

This means we don't have to be plugged into a phone line or pay a monthly subscription. Is there any way we could get the Sky+ facility for recording programmes without having a contract or plugging into a phone line?
If by "our own box" you mean a non-Sky receiver, then YES. Buy a new box (picture quality and reliability is much better now too) and the key feature to look for is PVR-ready. Boxes start from about £45. You'll usually need to connect a USB hard disk drive or a large memory stick which will cost about the same again, but it'll work out a lot cheaper than the Sky+ monthly subscription.0 -
I was really bummed about missing out on the £130 cashback as I had waited for the £50 tesco voucher as well to go for it and was too late!
But as crapwithcash82 got £130 tracked, I thought instead of my rpoints account (which has always tracked) i'll try the quidco on the off chance i'll get lucky. Signed up 30 minutes ago for Sky HD and what do you know, £130 is tracking through Quidco! Result, not sure if they will pay it out but worth a go especially with £50 Tesco vouchers as well.
cheers all for info.Life is one long project0 -

Well done johnhoque to you as well if you managed to get £130 tracked with Quidco! I got my £50 of Tesco vouchers the other day. Just waiting for my £120 to hit my bank account now.0
