During the application process on the Simplifydigital website it repeatedly says that "once activated, you will continue to pay BT for your line rental" - so how does that work if the line rental is free for the first 12 months with this deal ???
Just to clarify, I had the same question (see above) so I contacted them about it. This was their response:
Sorry for the confusion – all of our own making! To confirm, for this deal your line rental will move over to Sky and you will NOT continue to pay BT. Once the free 12 months are over, you will pay Sky the prevailing rate for their line rental (currently £10/month) plus any relevant call plan costs.
Hope that clears things up! :money:
Just out of interest, has anybody had their email [FONT="]confirming the successful completion of their order? I got an email immediately after ordering, but I've heard nothing since

Re sonicview Sky Deals 12 months leaving
Where in Sky's contract policies does it say that existing customers have to leave for 12months before you can become a new member?
This is discrimination. OFT need to sort out Sky for this illegal & disgraceful practice.0 -

She has line rental and BB with BT. She phoned them earlier and they said the BB contract had expired (yay!) but the line rental had rolled on to a new 12 month contract (apparently she had to opt out?? She doesn't remember seeing any opt out letters). This 'contract' continues until May 2010! She's apparently on 'Friends and Family' and if she moves line rental providers she'll have to pay £7.50 for each month left on the contract.
BT also told her that her calls aren't with BT. They were taken by another provider about a year ago but wouldn't tell her who. She never switched call provider and has recieved no bills from any other provider.
What can we do?
Can BT hold her to this 'rolled' contract?
What can she do about the erroneous switch of call provider? I'm sure Sky will need to switch her from this mystery provider for the deal.
Please help or direct me to where this might be better answered. The deal ends tomorrow0 -
If you have the Sky+ box you can get the recording facilities as a non subscriber for a fee of £10 p/m. You do not need a phone line but I don't know if there is a minimum period you must take it for.0

Hello all, I've just been quoted these prices for the various Sky boxes b by this lot www.dastv.co.uk which seem like good deals to me
Standard Sky free box - £15.00 install fee
Sky+ box free box - £30 Install fee
Sky+ HD £49.00 + £30 Install fee
but then im a bit clueless at all this still only having 1-4 as I do!
Are they decent deals?

Hi All, saw this thread yesterday while looking in to whether I could get the same deal as an existing customer, to that offered by simplifydigital.co.uk for new customers: Sky+HD box @ £49, free installation, free line rental and £55 cashback. (finished at midnight last night I think).
Anyway, I called Sky and told them of the offer and the best they came up with was that I paid £49 for the SKY+HD box, got half-price installation @ £30 and they offered my 6 months' half-price phone line rental. Told them no thanks, but then started fuming at the fact that new customers were treated so much better than the ones already paying their wages. So, I called back and asked to cancel my contract. Once through to cancellations, I explained to the guy that I didn't really want to cancel, but didn't see why I should beb treated so badly compared to new customers, so if they couldn't get anywhere near matching the offer, I would cancel. After a long period on hold he came back with:
1. Free SKY+HD box (worth £49)
2. Free Installation (worth £60)
3. Free 12-months phone line rental (worth £120)
4. Free broadband (which i declined having previously been with them at it being naff).
Now, to me, that is a blinding offer and I bit his hands off trying to sign up to it. Such a shame that you have to be prepared to ditch Sky to get the best deal, bbut I would have done it and just got Freesat HD instead.
Just be persistent and call their bluff and under no circumstances, tell them your partner will join in a different name. That will get you nowhere.0 -
Offer closed. hope everyone who wanted it, got it.0

we went to order sky online today and because we live in a "block" of 12 flats we aren't entitled to the £30 installation or the free sky+ box neither are we entitled to the £25 Tesco giftcard or any cashback.. VERY annoying as the only reason we chose to get sky now was because of the above reasons although losing out on a customer probably doesn't mean much.
We have an offer at work at the mo of a free Sky HD box and istallation and half price sky for 12 months so i might have to go for that instead.
EDIT: we can have the above minus the the cashback but we have to pay £75 heights charge for being on the second floor... hum.0 -
Where is this "you must leave Sky for 12 months before you can become a new customer" written, because its not in any of my 2003 or 2007 Sky conditions & policies. Even Sky can't supply me where it is stated. They just repeat it over and over again, but cannot support it!!!!0
