got a few questions, if someone has time to answer it would be greatly appreciated.

im in a new build with phone line installed, do i need to go to BT to get this connected or can i get it through sky? if through sky what are the costs likely to be for connection? also can i still get the free line rental deal or has this ceased now? and finally will the free line rental deal work with the recommend a friend deal?

    thanks again folks

There is also the great option of buying SkyPlayer, and watching a lot of different Sky programmes online! Very cheap, not as varied a service, but none of the phone line details malarky!

Can somebody point me in right direction?

I checked simplifydigital and went through selecting Sky+HD package, but still it comes up with line rental of £10 payable to Sky...Is the free line rental offer gone?

I wrote to CEO os SKY with almost similar issue. My problem was in braodband size. I ordered 40Gb but received 10Gb one. After long debeates I managed to get a £60.00 credit on my account and upgraded my broadband package to unlimited one just by adding exta £5 per month.
    Now I am happy!

Out of interest Im wondering what my chances are of getting a Sky+ box installed - we already have a Sky + box in the lounge which I talked Sky down on the price for earlier in the year and I had parents Sky box an old one moved to my room (I live with parents) and got multiroom.

Now my DVD recorders broken - currently at a Panasonic shop seeing if it can be repaired Im after Sky + in my room.

Rang Sky said only 1 box per house so £200 + £60 call out:eek:

Cant afford that but wondering if its worth speaking to them again or if I got a box off Ebay would I be able to use it? Would Sky alter my card so I could use all SKY+ features?

I could get out local aerial company to fit it.

Might not be worth chasing this with Sky as we are on a new 12month contract and already had one cheap box off them?

Thanks in advance for any info

I took the sky offer with HD etc and with the free line rental for a year i.e. £31.25/ month and I rang today as directed to get them to action the BB(I didnt have a landline and had to pay for installation of that - £25 charge). At the end of the call the girl on the phone went through all the charges on the line and it was working out at £41.25 i.e. landline offer not applied.

Exactly the same just happened to me, i.e. I went for the deal through Simplify digital, I didn't originally have a phone line, and now Sky want to charge me for the line rental.

I've phoned up the Sky call centre and was told that they have no record of the "free line rental offer".

I'm now going to try Simplify digital.

Out of interest, how has it gone for you?
  • Hi all,

I have also just checked my sky bill to find that i have been charged for line rental, after a long time on the phone to Sky they confirmed they have no record of the offer and could not help me unless i write in.

I then called Simplify digital, after a short converstation they said they would look into it and get back to me. Two days later i recieved a call to confirm I have been credited £120 by sky.

I would highly recommend that anybody who has taken this offer up, check there bills to confirm they are not paying for line rental.

The guy i spoke to at Simplify digital said this is an issue that has occurred a number of times before, so it sounds like it is going to be a common issue.

Please also note, that when on the phone to sky, they said they were unaware of any offers regarding free line rental, however I should not have paid the £25 install fee for the phone line and also credited my account for that too. :)

So all in all not too bad. However a lump sum of £120 is harder to budget for than saving £10 per month.
